Hi,

i have applied through AINP - H1B Visa stream. I have done my medicals, on July 23, 2011 CIC asked for some documents and PR Fees. i submitted all of the documents and fees on Oct 5, 2011. then they asked for some more documents on Nov 23 2011, which i submitted on Dec 20, 2011.

i have not heard back from them. what should I do?

thank you

Hi,

just sharing my personal thought.

there is nothing much you can do except emailing them.

Just FYI.... medicals are valid only for 1 year and one more thing If they issue you the Confirmation of PR, they will ask you to complete your landing process before july 23 2012.

best of luck

I agree with above post. I heard that there is slight increase in processing time. So you gotta wait.

to Mamu,

you mentioned that i should be done with my landing process by July23 , 2012. how did you come up with this date. is it bcoz CIC asked for PR fees on July 23 2011?

please let me know.

thank you

generally medicals are valid only for 1 yr only... if one doesn't land within 1 yr they should do their medicals once again. so most of the time CIC will complete their process in 1 yr.

Hello LAguy,

I'm sorry to hear that.

even though you write to Buffalo office, they will say "Your case is moved so and so office and contact them".

personal opinion: better, you fax seattle office saying you have mailed so and so documents and ask them to confirm whether they have recieved them.

Hello All-

I finally got Nomination letter from AINP after 3 years. I am planning to apply to CIC now. I have a couple of qucik questions and it will be helpful if someone can reply me.

Quesitons-

1. I work on h1b in the US. Should I get police clearance from India. OR just the FBI clearance is good enough?

2. should i wait for the cleareance and then send the application to CIC OR should i send the applciation to CIC first and then later send the police clerance report.

3. It will help if someone can throw some light on the 6 month time to apply to CIC from the nomination date. I am hearing that the applicationto CIC must be submitted within 6 months of nomination ? what if my application is not documentarily complete ( say waiting for police clearance or soemthign else) and CIC asks for additional documents and the 6months has gone past? Will my nomination is still valid or will CIC ask me to apply for extension.

thanks a lot

visaworker

I recieved the nomination letter only on APril 20th but the nomination letter has March 20th as the nomination date. It took a while for the mail to reach me. So I already lost a few days

to visaworker:

Congrats on getting the nomination.

Here are the answers.

1. You need Police report from India and FBI clearance from US. If you have lived in any other country for more than 6 months then you need a police report from that country as well.

2. Not sure how people are doing this these days because FBI clearance takes 8-12 weeks. Just send your CIC application and submit the police clearance later. (Make sure you mention that in your cover letter) Also wait for more response to this post.

3. Usually 6 months is to apply to CIC. Once you submit your documents, then you are in the queue. If they need more documents they will communicate back to you.

Cheers

Thanks Jumpin777!

So do I the option of getting police clearance from India OR through my nearest indian consulate (which is NYC)? which one of the option do you think is better for people like me working in the US?

And if anyone reading this gets a quick minute- please share your thoughts on sending the CIC application first and sending the police certificates later.

thanks again

There is no such thing " Police report from consulate". You need to get Police report from India where u used to reside.

Hello 777
I just got my passport request via email and they have asked me to send it to Ottawa.

I reside in USA. What is the best way to send passport-. I am planning to send via FEDEX.
I would like to know if CIC -Ottawa would return passport back via any courier service instead of regular mail. And please let me know if I should include any prepaid courier return label/ envelope for return shipment of my passport to my residence in USA. Please clarify.

My medicals have already expired. They have not asked any re take of medicals. I hope they do not ask for more medicals later?

Also, do they give the PR visa and do I have to fly to alberta withing a certian time? I am planning to return to USA for now. Is it still true that I need to stay only 2 years out of my first 5years to satisfy requirement to retian PR. COuld any one please eloborate or contrirm my understanding.

Thank you

Congrates on getting passport request. Don't worry they wont ask your for medicals. If they wanted your medical, they should have asked for it prior requesting passport.

When I received the Passport request, it should be buffalo NY. I believe Fedex would be best option. I know someone who recently (4 months back) received their visa. I can check with them and get back to you about Return envelop and Fedex.

Once you receive your passport back. It will come with Immigrant visa (valid for a year or less) with single entry and guidelines. You can fly to Alberata and complete the landing formalities or flty to Toronto. I went to Toronto and gave my friends address in Toronto to deliver the PR cards. The instructions that I received with my passport explicitly mentioned that I can't land in Quebec withouth their entry document. It also depends on the immigration officer in Toronto. They may ask for Alberta address and if you don't have it they may say that you can apply for PR card once you move to Canada.

Make sure to take a list(2 copies) for accompanying goods and goods to follow with you.

Yes, you have to stay for 2 years out of 5 to retain PR.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the detailed response. And it was very helpful. If it was within USA, fedex seems the best.

Since they now ask me to mail to Ottawa, And they specifically stated in the email that they accept only PREPAID Canada Post Xpresspost envelopes, i got a little confused. So if you know anyone who submitted to ottawa, I would like know how they mailed it to Ottawa from the United States.

I plan on waiting to hear back from you before I ship my passport to canada. It seems to me that I will go the Fedex route, just include pre-paid fedex envelope.

Thanks
Karthik

This is the reply I received from him

"I sent my passports through FedEx to Ottawa. However they do not accept FedEx return envelops from USA. They sent my passports to my lawyer through Canada mail, and they sent me through FedEx at my US address. As I know if someone has no lawyer in Canada, make sure you put your return address clearly so they could send back on your US address. People have been getting passports back in USA through Canada post, which is their regular mail service."

Hope that helps.

its scary dumb to send passport via mail. On top of it by regular mail. Looks like CIC has a no care attitude. if something happens to passport, god knows what happens.
but i guess there is no other option

to visaworker:

Sending Passport via mail is standard Practice when applying for Visa or applying for Passport within US. But we opt for tracking number or go with express mail.

I believe Canadian mail service is better than USPS that's why they use standard mail for all immigration purpose. I received my SSN and PR in standard mail to US address without any issue. Standard mail sounds scary but I think Canadian mail isn't.
