Topic: When to book return flight from Matamoros?

Heads up guys !

The best western hotel that was close (0.5 miles) to the border gate ( brownsville-matamoros) is not there anymore. It has been razed to the ground. Apparently they will build a new american counsulate there.

The new best western is around 4.5 miles away from the gate. So now you have to take a taxi to and from the counsulate and the fingerprinting office to the hotel.
Just letting everyone know. Especially those who will not take help from agents.

No ! Not at all advisable to book at that time. You will get passport at around 3 PM ( assuming you get it on same day). At the gate they will keep you waiting for 1 to 3 hours. Preferably, do not book return flight till you return to US ( Or buy an open ticket).
I am assuming you are going for stamping on same day.

Topic: OFF TOPIC - Looking to relocate to Dallas/Austin , TX...

Sir !
I lived in Dallas for 7 years.
Now in deep south Texas for another 6 years.
Been to Austin off and on.

1.
Austin has one very big publi univ : UTAustin and other smaller ones.
DFW area has around 4 big : UTA, UTD, SMU, TCU and other smaller ones

2. DFW used to be and still is a telecom/technology hub - TI, Nokia, Nortel, Microsoft , Motorola ( I think) and many such .

3. One good thing about Austin is it is not as bad as DFW when it come to Tornadoes.
DFW is in Tornado alley.
When I was in DFW , twice we had huge tornadoes creating lot of damage.
I havent heard much about tornadoes in Austin ( some one can correct me if I am wrong)
