Topic: H1b extension processing time - Vermont

Hi All

I went for H1B Stamping for extension on Monday(4/18/2016). I was eligible for Drop Box and went for it. I got my extension done on Sep 2015, but had to return to India due to certain closure of project. A new Amendment was filed on 16-Nov -15 and the approval was pending as it is Vermont Office. Initially my Company was not allowing me to go for stamping till the amendment is approved. At last they allowed me last week and got my passport with stamped Visa today. They just took copies of I797. SO if anyone waiting for stamping just due to amendment approval. Go ahead and get it stamped if you are eligible for Drop Box

Topic: H1b amendment processing time?

Can anyone please share their experience of H1B Visa stamping being done when their Amendment is still in progress. I have been waiting 6 months and Vermont center might take another 2 months for approval. I will loose a 2 year project if I don't get my Visa stamped in India now. Please share your experience it will be really helpful

Thanks a lot. Will wait for our company lawyer to come back or else I will directly go for stamping in couple of weeks, Just will wait for few other responses . Has anything changed in last few months, any new article that says people having visa approved can go for stamping without their New H1B amendment being approved

Can someone share their experience of going for H1B stamping in India when the New H1B amendment is in 'Received state'.
I had to return back to India after I got my extension done on Sep, 2015. After that I joined a project offshore and a new H1B amendment was applied in October, 2015. My Company didn't allow me to go for stamping after I joined the new project thinking that amendment will be approved in 2-3 months. Now with more than 6 months wait they are thinking of probably going for stamping without Amendment being approved to have the premium money saved. Not Sure what could be more worse if stamping is rejected . They are saying the projects have enough documents to support any kind of 221g if raised. FYI. I am eligible for Drop down box.

Topic: H1B extension regular at CSC

I don't think so. Lot's of petition from Sep Last week to Nov 23 are pending for Approval in CSC. H1B Tracker could be misleading as people do upgrade it to premium and don't update the tracker. But I still hope your words are true and the processing speed has improved. CSC is still much better than VSC. Dec 22 in CSC will surely be done within 2 months or may be even earlier. Best of Luck.

Looking at the progress this week we will get an idea , whether the work load sharing helped or not. As CSC is almost 2 month ahead, hopefully we see good progress. One thing for sure if we don't see good progress in next couple weeks then the situation will remain as poor as it is now as new H1B petition's has started as well as after May-June lots of people will start applying for extension.

Was this an extension, amendment or transfer.
Not sure what's the trend with USCIS. August 4 and August 17 got approved whereas so many cases between July 20 to August 17 are pending in Vermont.
Hopefully with the work load transfer happening we will see some good result in next 10-15 days.

Topic: H1b extension processing time - Vermont

If you see the current state , as per March 29, 2016, Vermont Center is processing August 1st week cases. I see in egov site they have mentioned Sep 17, 2015 date for I-129 (H-1B - Specialty occupation - Visa to be issued abroad and H-1B - Specialty occupation - Change of status in the U.S.) and July 6 for I-129 (H-1B - Specialty occupation - Extension of stay in the U.S.) as of Jan 31st 2016. But to be true haven't seen or heard anyone getting approval after August 1st week and this is for all H1B extension, transfer or New amendment.
So at the minimum you have to wait 2 months and looking at the trend and way it is going could be 4-5 months. No point putting in premium as RFE is being raised for many cases. If you are confident on responding back to RFE's then go for premium at least 15 days before your 240 days

Topic: H1b extension processing time - Vermont

Went through many blogs and sites for H1b Amendement Approval dates and timeline
Vermont is almost 45 days behind California Center.
Vermont: As of now July 20-27, 2015 are still pending. Few 1st of Aug got approved in regular Processing.
They have started moving cases to Local offices. Could find Received date from USCIS between Nov 23, 2015 to Nov 27, 2015 moved to local offices. No specific trend here to say all cases from Nov 23 have been moved to Local Offices
For California Service center: Few last week of August, 2015 and Sep 1st week have received Approval. No Clear trend here. Could find few people from last week of August still waiting for Approval

Confusion here is moving to Local offices, Does that mean Nov 25, 2015 cases in local Office will be approved before Aug 10 case in Vermont. That doesn't seem logical.
Again No logic applies to USCIS they can do anything. The link for transferring work load is old dated way back of 2013. Couldn't find any new link saying I-129 cases are being transferred to Local offices for workload. Yes, there few other types of approval which they have mentioned will be moved to local office due to work load
