Topic: I140 application for CTS (Cognizant) employees

They send notification email through one communicator that an RFE has been received. But not always.
I see RFE notifications for visa extensions & amendments. For my I140, there was no notification but a case manager reached out after one and a half month requesting additional documents. There are cases where they just inform after filing RFE response.
Better call once a week until you can confirm that they did receive the RFE and working on it.

RFEs will be received within a couple of weeks and we will receive a notification email from GM team.
In the RFE status online, you will see a date beyond which we can reach out to USCIS for clarification. If you do not get an update beyond that date, better reach out. If USCIS did send RFE and we did not receive and respond on time, they could deny our case.

Since I140 is already filed with USCIS, status in visa request app is not a concern. Keep looking at Post processing App for approvals.

Priority date is date of filing PERM. Your receipt and approval notices should reflect the same date.
Yes, you should be able to stay. But do reach out to immigration team for confirming the same.

Regarding your stay, please check with immigration team.
To my understanding, immigration team will file H1B extension beyond max out date only if it has been 365 days since your PERM was filed (priority date should be before 28 Feb 2017). In that case, you can continue to stay.

Check below link. Cover letter helps the officer to understand the list & ordering of our documents. Dont worry about the format of letter.

RFE documents will be received usually within 2 weeks. When I raised GSD request, no one responded and after more than a month, it was closed requesting me to call instead. A case manager reached out after 6 weeks. Better call and check.

50% of applications may get processed in normal processing time and rest are done at random. Its our luck.
You can request premium processing for your I140.

It is enough to submit notarized affidavit from manager/supervisor in such cases. I know friends who got PERM & I140 approved without any issue.

Request for Initial Evidence means, they need additional documents to begin processing your petition.
Usually, if your case was pending too long, it is normal to get RFE for latest payslip, W2, project detail etc. We will have 3 months to respond. Immigration team will reach out to you if they need documents from your end (but will not disclose the actual RFE detail).
It may take more than a month for a case manager to reach out to you. Hang in there.
Also, do add your case detail in trackitt.

If you get RFE, immigration team will file the response only in the last minute. In my case, a case manager reached out 60 days after RFE and filed response just 3-4 days before final day.So, expect to wait until mid of Feb.

USCIS case status does not get updated properly.

Concurrent filing allows background verification for I485 to start along with I140 processing.

Though they say that I140 and I485 check are independent of each other, if there is any delay in background check, they do delay I140 approval giving it as a reason when we raise SR.
Having said that, concurrent filing still reduces the over all time taken.

We can either submit Medical after I140 approval or submit initially and then redo if required based on our preference.

Mine is an RFE. I reached out to my case manager, he directed to a senior manager who responded saying that they are working on RFEs with prior dates and a case manager will reach out soon. May be we should not mention that it is an RFE :)

10 days after requesting 485J, Immigration team responded saying that they are working on prior requests and a case manager will reach out whenever they are done. Any one with similar experience?
