Topic: July 2017 I-485 filers
Arrived 15 minutes before appt time.
Went through security checks and scanners
Proceeded to meet a gentleman who confirmed our appointments
Waited next in the seating area. Lots of people who were waiting for infopass appointments were already seated.
Handful of us for interview.
Half hour later than our appointment time the IO called my name out.
I approached him, smiled nervously and shook his hand.
I told him that I am with my wife and we were applying together. Would he like to interview both of us?
He thought for a few seconds, and by that time my wife walked upto us.
He said that’s ok and then took us to his room.
He appeared friendly and told us that he had a bad day so far. Discussed what went wrong.
He asked us to take an oath.
Asked us to verify our full name and DOB.
Took fingerprints
Asked for our passports I 94
Kept ticking things off in our file
Asked yes/ no questions on the 485
Asked me for my Employment verification letter.
Asked me about my job, my wife’s job.
Has anyone else applied for us GC before
Asked us about our marriage date, how we met, photos and children’s birth certificate
He turned the music station on in between. The music was soft and soothing I thought.
He verified if visa numbers were available. There was some confusion here but got quickly resolved.
He said he had everything he needed for approval except waiting to receive verification if my workplace exists.
This soon was confirmed and he told us that “I am approving your green cards and you have every privilege as citizen except for voting etc. etc. Can’t stay out of country for more than 5 months or GC would lapse. Valid for 10 years. Can apply for citizenship after 5 years.” He said he would put up the updates to our case in the system by evening.
He asked us if we had any questions. We told him no.
Thanked him and wished that the rest of his day go smoothly.
Overall was a smooth experience. Officer was pleasant.
Said the GC should arrive between 2-4 weeks. |

Me too. Transferred October 17. Got the EAD/AP. Field office Memphis.
What do you guys think we should do. Wait more .....patiently ......or do something...... |

Yes it comes with a tracking number.
The letter on which the EAD is stuck to has a USPS tracking# eVS
I was of the same fear and was able to get the tracking number by calling the customer care when my online message changed. They have to transfer you to an officer - for which the wait time can be insane.
But to answer your question- yes. |

Any update on your AP/ EAD. The wait is agonizing. Every hour I look to see if something has changed. This week too has passed, the USICIS page remains listless. |

Hmm.... I thought it was sent to the lawyer. That's what I was told. I will double check. |

to spidey666:
Thank you for the quick reply.
Neither is the concern.
It's like the GC is supposed to be mailed to the lawyer once approved. If there is a change in the mailing address would that cause it to end up in a black hole. So is it better to keep the mailing address from the original G28 intact. |

Keep same lawyer but different firm
Or
Keep same firm but different lawyer |

Topic: Need some advice
My company lawyer who filed the 485 is moving to a new law firm few miles across. She is wanting to release my files to her and take it with her and file a new G28 form.
Is it better to stick with the same lawyer and go along with her to her new firm.
Or is it better to keep the original law firm with a new lawyer from that firm.
With respect to 485 sake.
Any feedback would be appreciated. |

to EB2GCCOUPLE
Looks like our cases are similar in the sense I am post J1 waiver. I was under Conrad 30.
My wife too has H4 EAD. Her AP/EAD got approved last Thursday. Mine is still pending.
Keeping fingers crossed. |

Topic: NBC Transfer
Ok. Thank you very much.
At least we have crossed to the next step in what appears to be the latest process.
An interview from what I conclude is inevitable to those who pass on to NBC.
Also probably it looks like an interview notice follows within 1-2 months from when it is received (usually in the 2nd half of the month) and an interview in the subsequent month or so.
The next few months will tell. |

Topic: NBC Transfer
Me and my spous: our 485 got transferred to NBC to speed up processing the cases as per the written notice. July applicants.
Before transfer - from TX - has some part of the evaluation of the case like background checks etc. been completed prior to transfer.
Or it has to start from scratch at NBC.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
