Topic: All previous H1b randomly updated yeterday

Yesterday, (Saturday evening) i got 4-5 text messages about updates to my previously approved h1b extensions/amendements etc. I logged in to the site to see the last updated date was shown as 4/7/2018 but there was no change in status etc - it still said on Feb 2 we approved your i-129 etc etc.
Anyone else experience this?

Topic: NO MORE DACA DEAL - he Tweeted !

The Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal on DACA ruling. With DACA still very much intact, there is hardly any urgency. Doubt if the status quo gets disturbed.

The quality of care is definitely better in the US, and if you can have some much needed emotional support (her parents, siblings etc visit) it would be a no brainer.
Stay strong my brother.

Does it matter when this video was shot? What makes you think a group that opposed I-140 EAD would support Green Cards for backlogged folks.

Actually, India gives work permits without numerical limits. And you don't have brown/white skin quotas for naturalization

Topic: Campaign against H1B - Yahoo news.

Dude - that's like saying white men people should stay silent because of Jeffrey Skilling, or white women should shut up because of Elizabeth Holmes, or jewish people because Bernie Maddoff - your argument is as ridiculous as your nickname.

So a few facts per DOL data :
Average (or maybe median) H1b computer science wage is around $90000.
Average US computer science wage is around $85000.

And this, despite the fact that H1b workforce includes 25% freshers a year, and H1b wages are artificially depressed due to limited mobility of H1b employees.

There goes the cheap H1b narrative out of the window. Now if you wanna take economic decisions based on CBS 60 minutes, or anecdotal evidence - then yeah - deport us all.

Topic: H1B Stamping question in Toronto

What i'm trying to say is, don't go for visa stamping unless you need visa stamping.
1. Don't go to canada at all, if the sole purpose of the visit is visa stamping.
2. If you go to canada, and return within 30 days, you don't need a valid visa to return - you can return on your expired visa (this rule is thrown out of the window if you apply for a visa and are denied etc).

Chill out and get a visa the next time you're in India.

Topic: H1B Stamping question in Toronto

Are you going to Canada purely to get a visa, or you just happen to be visiting?
If it is the former, you don't need it really. If the later, you don't necessarily need to go for stamping. As long as the duration of your stay was less than 30 days, you can reenter the country from Canada and Mexico on an expired visa. Remeber this will not be true, if you apply for a visa at a consulate.

Topic: Immigration Reform is coming soon

yes India has it's problems, but so do most other countries in the world

The US had racial segregation till 50 years ago. Australia snatched kids away from their families. Germany committed one of the worst genocides in history.
All of us are here because this country offers us better opportunities, or fits better with our aspirations. The author did what she had to do, kudos to her - but hating an entire country, 1.2 billion people - that's a lot of baggage and negativity to carry around.
Although, she has assimilated well - a stint in the army, and indirectly blaming Indians for her sucking at USC (that's so American).

Topic: Supreme court ruling on DACA ,temp glimmer of hope for H4 EAD

The difference is - in the case of H4 EAD - DHS will follow the rule making process - notice and public comment period - the whole 9 yards! There will be no legal argument against it.
The administration followed none of that with DACA, and hence the legal challenges.

unused visas are not carried over to the next year unfortunately. i don't think there is any law or regulation that is favorable to us in this process other than AC21 and H4 EAD.

Topic: US is not a Nation of Immigrant?

With the change of mission statement, and Trump's poem yesterday - the message is clear - those in power view immigration as a net negative. They also made it clear that immigrants aren't exactly good for American values.

My last amendment took 14 months with a RFE (employer took 2.5 months to respond). My previous one took 12 months without a RFE.

Topic: New H1B memo

It puts pressure on H1bs working at client sites without employer supervision, i.e. the body shopping model. It also puts documentation pressure on consulting companies, but they should be fine once they figure out the documentation requirements. I think companies like WITCH/Big 4 will be fine. I think once the lawyers and companies figure out how USCIS is implementing these, they will revert to a model that works.
I know people love to hate to WITCH - but it does look like they always maintain employee employer relationship, and active supervision.
