I’d rather respond on this forum! However I can only share my experience, I am not a lawyer and therefore it’s impossible for me to give recommendations!
Anyhow, i’d Be happy to help if I can!

I never had any update since we received the notice that the case was transferred... so no updates such as interview schedule etc etc. I guess it depends by the service center. It’s a waiting game...

No idea... never called for infopass. In our case was a gentleman (I believe officer Estes) who brought us in his office and was very professional and not at all intimidating

You’re welcome!
I was also confused about the affidavit of support: my lawyer told me so many times I didn’t need one...anyhow the officer was very nice and told us to fill out one before him right there. I also asked some guidance. I am the sponsor and my husband’s the beneficiary.
I filled out my salary and my address, our kid’s names and that’s about it.
As a proof of bona fide marriage I have given him the birth certificates of my kiddos and my bank statement with our names on, and a print out of my life insurance’s beneficiaries.
I guess that there might still be some uncertainty in the guidelines for interviews, and many IOS still treat it as a family based petition.
Hope this helps!

Interview experience:
Hartford, CT
Same as everybody’s else, asked if we had a lawyer, oath, passports, DL, birth certificates, EADs, ssn, general questions regarding type of visas we ever had, proof of bona gode relationship, proof that we never been out of status (all things we already submitted, but gave all originals of J1 ds2019), employment letter, w2 and pay stubs. Then yes/no questions. IO very courteous and professional. Said he was going to review the case in the next days and gave us the notice the case is held for review. He said not to stress about that everything looked in order.
On a side note, the IO made us fill out and sign the form I-134 affidavit of support, while our lawyer repeatedly told us that was not necessary given my category... good thing is that the IO agreed with us that supplement j was not necessary

To LabB
RFE received may 27 (for supplement j, although I am EB1A and therefore I don’t qualify), RFE received shortly after (don’t exactly remember, maybe June 20th; transfer October 27, interview notice December 12

Cafebaba

Thank you for the tips!
I also thought that the lawyer was not going to be necessary, given that I am now pretty familiar with all the details of my application. You are right, probably having him by your side is mostly to give you a peace of mind. He himself said that should not be needed.
However it is a very stressful process, I bet every single person in this community feels it this way!!!

Wow GooddamnNIW,
My lawyer is asking something like 3k to show up at my interview. I guess because they’re out of state...
Whatever. I just wander if they are really necessary, or can make a difference in approval process
Anyhow, here my case details

Oct 27/nov 30/jan 8/Hartford CT/ EB1A Italy

To GoddamnNIW

Thank you for being supportive ;)
I was kinda hoping to avoid bringing the lawyer since their fees for this kind of service are quite crazy... almost like a new I-140 application. My attorney says he doesn’t think it’s necessary in my case, however he has “instructed” me how to reply in case they are confused regarding the supp J. Also he says that he could only say something very rarely during interviews.
Any of you having thoughts regarding having legal representation during the interview?

Hi all,

I need some advice. I am I-140 approved for EB1A in January 2017. I then filed for I-485 on March 10th (yes, 4 days after the new mandatory interview notice) and received and RFE in may for supp J. My attorney said that since I am EB1A I don’t qualify for supp j requirements; however we responded to RFE with supp j signed by me as a sponsor (as no employer sponsored my green card) and with a note from the attorney with explanation regarding my case. I also included a statement with my current position and wage (because I also changed employer in June).
Does anyone have any experience on this?
I am afraid that i’ll Get questioned during the interview (will be beginning of January).....
Thanks!
