Topic: Goodlatte bill coming today - Any details ?

I say that point about silicon valley itself is flawed.

I dont believe silicon valley companies are blatantly amoral as you say. They dont pay less for some one because they are on H1 and they are coveted places for lot of people to work for them to worry about people leaving after GC.

The reasons for the current predicament is that, it is simply that no one, either democrats or republicans see much stake politically in EB issues. Its not even all the countries only issue for Indians. Not many people either care supporting or opposing it. They just go with the tide 90%.
But there are few who dont want any non-western European immigration. They are part of extreme right wing to which rest of republicans are bowing to in recent times. That is a cause for concern.

In the house, 90% democrats voted for it too.
And by your own admission, Chuck G was the one who held it first (for what ever reason you think noble or not)and for about an year. It was not a filibuster and if he did not put a hold on it it would have passed.

How come you are not blaming him but democrats for their position not giving into his demand?

Right. that is by procedure.
But no body is willing a second look on this. No takers on the democratic side and lot of opposition on republican side. So it doesn't even qualify as a starting point. I wish it were because the employment based changes have little opposition and there would be fair chance of leaving it in final version.

Your simple solution ought to be around employment and highskilled (H1B) at that because that is what is on your mind all the time. But there is (immigration) world out side of it. DACA is about kids brought illegally by their parents and they dont have any association with their "home" country. So they tend to see it as their life rather than employment. So there is nothing simple in it.

Goodlatte bill might well be dead. No one is considering that.
A little traction for senate talks but that did not seem to have anything for employment based immigration.

Its amazing how some people are jumping over hoops in this forum not to see Trump in bad light.
Trump doesn't have or express any opinion based on facts or deliberation. He speaks whatever is on that filthy mind and racism is deep rooted in there.

Topic: Immigration Reform is coming soon

"Republicans are just fulfilling their long term agenda to have merit based immigration which democrats don't like."

Stop buying into their talking points dude.
"Merit based immigration system" is a dog whistle. It means only western Europeans similar to Job creators (rich donors) and states rights (racist laws).

Some time ago they some what supported it as part of supply side economics. Now they detest technology companies. Now they are completely reactionary. They only favor some sectors of economy because liberals fight them.

Its a choice. You can blame Dems because you are not their priority or Reps because you are their enemy. Exactly the kind of choice americans made with DJT v HRC. Now all are screwed one way or the other.

Minding the gap between expectations and real movement in the last few months, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't move at all this month.

You sound more like a conservative rule book. In reality neo-conservatism is lot different these days.

Trump doesn't fit either place. He is populist.

If you have been following immigration politics for so long, you should have understood by now that its portrayed and understood in general public and media that illegal immigration is human/law and order issue and legal immigration is corporate/profit making issue. No one sees it as indian PEOPLE-unfairly-waiting-long issue. In their view, there is no human angle to legal immigration. That is same for both republican and democrats.
So what you have seen is Republicans trying corporate agenda and Democrats blocking it. It is the reason Chuck Sh. sponsors all the bills against Desi out sourcing companies.
Now, with Trump's raise and Ted C. to some extent, even the pro-corporate people in GOP are in minority. So hopes on GOP presidents and particularly in Trump is pointless.

We live in our own bubble and see what we want to see.
Legal immigration is not much of an issue for Americans or pretty much for anyone other than the indians waiting in EB2 and EB3. It doesn't matter Republicans or Democrats.
Democrats and Liberals are more receptive to OTHERS(like us) than Republicans and conservatives. So stop drooling over GOP presidents. More over the Trump support is solely based on the people who see any one other than white people are treat to this country, no less.
