Topic: Green Card returned to USCIS MO Office by USPS

Recently my 1485 application was approved and new card mailed.
Due to some unknown reason only my wife and my card were delivered; but son card was not delivered for more than 20 days. After speaking with USCIS, I have got the tracking number then many follow up with USPS and finally today USPS came back to my case stating the mail was return to USCIS office. When asked for the reason, they said they don't know.

Actually, per tracking, it came all the way close to nearest USPS Distribution Center it was staying there fore few days then it return back to USCIS office. Yes, it was not even reached out local post office and apparently there were no attempt to deliver the mail to my address.

Now that's my story; and dear friends, looking for your advice how to get it back from USCIS and also share if any of you have gone through similar pain and how did you overcome this situation.

Thanks in advance!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

* There is no address change or any change made since the case filed
* Have received many mails that sent by USCIS for all 3 of us. It were all received no problem except this time.

Topic: My dependents have to go out of US and stay for few years

Need your help to handle my situation here.

After we received green card, there were some unexpected situation had happened. Hence, my wife and 2 kids had to go back to my home country (india) while I will have continue my employment in USA. They will have to stay there at least not less than 3 to 5 years. However, yearly once they are planning to come to US – during post academic exam holidays, which will be 1 or 2 months long and this long leave comes once in a year.

In this situation,
# Is there any option they can retain their green card status? I hope (per my web research) it is not possible as it defies the purpose of the green cards itself.
Please share your thought on this.

# If they can not retain their GC status, should we request USCIS to revoke the GC ? After GC revoked how can they come to USA once in year --- during exam holiday that I have mentioned above?
Please explain.

Your input, advice and thoughts on these would help much more than what you could imagine.

Thanks in advance!
