Topic: Report unemployment or self-employment between real jobs

I have been doing mostly consulting work (not self-employed but through agencies) in the last 5 years, which is the time period N-400 application requires to provide employment history for. I did collect some unemployment but I also used the time to work on my personal projects, which did not generate immediate cash flow to conflict unemployment (such as home improvements of my own properties). I did do some AirBnB but not during times I would collect unemployment, which did generate some income.

My question is, should I be reporting the time between real jobs as unemployed, self-employed or a mix thereof, and does it really affect my application?

Topic: can bad credit affect citizenship application?

i was recently contacted by a credit renegotiation agency that claims they can cut my CC debt in half by negotiating with the bank but that would involve stopping to pay my monthly bills and basically would drive my credit score down for a few months (cca 6) until they are done negotiating. the refusal to pay has to happen basically because the bank won't negotiate otherwise because why would they if i make orderly monthly payments as they have me where they want me.

since that will make me a de facto deadbeat and i am in my 4th year of GC and soon to be applying for citizenship, i was wondering if that might affect my citizenship application.

thanks

Topic: what happened to the citizenship forum?

truth be told i haven't been here a while but i remember there used to be a forum dedicated to green card holders who are applying for citizenship.

has that been yanked or am i just blind?

thanks

Unlike many other countries on the world, US has no exit control.

that's so that illegals don't feel nervous about exiting, should they ever feel homesick :)

Palguy, MrVulcan, Slovacisco ... all these familiar names remind me of the dark ages before my GC. when the misery of my old job forced me into a trackitt frenzy. i sort of miss you guys.

I see there are many responses above to this question, but this question is probably intended as a joke. It must be.

no, i wasn't joking. i just wasn't sure what is needed, in terms of paperwork.

but the app didn't say that, granted the UI of the form was as crappy as can be. why are the europeans not as usability oriented as the americans ?
