Aside from checking the status online, sign up with the USPS and check the "Informed Delivery". USCIS is also delayed in posting status update. The interview notice might be on its way to your address but the status online has not been updated.

Guess what? I just received the approval notice for the I485 and I485J and the actual green card! I am so happy. I wish you all guys get your green cards soon too. :)

I guess if you did not answer a "yes" in any of the questions in the I485 application form and that you never had issues with your status before, it is okay not to have a lawyer in the interview.

I just saw online on USPS Informed Delivery that I have an inbound priority mail package from USCIS Lee's Summit, Missouri production facility. It will be delivered tomorrow (9 days from my interview). This could be 'it' because USCIS uses priority mail with tracking for green cards, travel documents, and EAD. The receipt notice I received yesterday was also from Lee's Summit but it was just a regular mail. Still no case updates online though but keeping my fingers crossed.

The interview is for the primary applicant, spouse and children 14 years old and older. Here's the link to the USCIS Interview guidelines: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyMa...

The Officer (a young, nice lady) asked me about these:
1. my first and last name
2. first name of parents
3. birth date, city and country
4. date of last entry to the US
5. first airport I went through on my last entry to the US. She then asked to see my passport to see the last stamp.
6. If I am still with the same employer who petitioned my I140.
7. yes/no questions on the I485 application form.

Then, she said we were done. She asked me if there is a particular document that I am asked to turn in in the the interview notice (none). She told me to wait up to 120 days for the decision but she also said that it really doesn't take that long. She is just obligated to say it.

By the way, when you go to the interview, you can't be more than 30 minutes early. You'll pass a scanner. Your stuff (jacket, documents, everything in your pocket) will go through x-ray machine. You'll check in with the lady in the counter. Then, you'll enter the waiting room and stand (fall in line) in front of the stop sign. The personnel in the windows (I think there were 8 of them) will call attend to you and tell you to take your seat and wait for your name to be called. There are two main doors on the sides of the waiting room (one on each side). When your name is called you'll enter through the door. You follow the person who called you to his/her office. In the office, you'll take an oath that everything you say is the truth and nothing but the truth. Then, if you do not have a lawyer with you (I didn't have one.), you will be asked to sign a waiver that you are doing the interview without a lawyer. Then, the interview will commence.

P.S. The IO will ask for your driver's license right at the beginning.

I had my interview in Baltimore on March 22. There is no approval notice nor greencard yet. There is no change in the online status either. It still says "Interview is Scheduled". Today, I saw on USPS website that there is an incoming mail from USCIS so I excitedly waited for the mail to be delivered. It wasn't the approval notice or greencard. Instead, it was a 'Receipt Notice Fee Waived' for I485J. I already received a similar notice on November 27, 2017. What is weird though is that the case number is different. It starts with MSC. The previous notice starts with SRC. What is more weird is that the new receipt number cannot be recognized by the USCIS Case Status Online. I am hoping that this does not mean trouble in my case. Many of my friends received the approval notice four days after the interview and the greencard within a week. Today is exactly one week since my interview.

I was at the Baltimore office for the interview yesterday. I did not have a lawyer with me so I have to sign a waiver that says I don't have a lawyer. The interview was quick. It took less than 5 minutes. It feels more like a formality because the questions that were asked are the ones that are already in the I-485 form. The officer just asked to see my passport but she did not ask for any other document.

My case:
Filing date: August 4, 2017
Transfer to NBC: November 27
Interview Notice: February 15
Interview Schedule: March 22

I had my interview yesterday at the Baltimore Office. The interview was quick. It took less than 5 minutes. On the way to her office, the officer asked me if my lawyer was coming with me. I said no. When we got to her office, she told to put down my stuff on an empty chair and remain standing for the oath. After the oath, she asked me to sign a waiver that says that I am doing the interview without the assistance of my lawyer. After that she asked me to state my full name, asked me about my date of birth, city of birth, country of birth, first names of my parents and date of my last entry to the US. She then asked to see my passport for her to see the last entry stamp. Then she went through the yes or no questions on the application form. After it, she said we are done. She told me to wait for the decision within 120 days. She said that it wouldn't really take that long. She is just obliged to say that to me. Then she showed me out of her office.

Note: I was lucky that my schedule was at 12:45 pm. Because of the snow the other day, they opened late at 10:00 am instead of the usual 7:30 AM. Those who were scheduled before 10 was were rescheduled on another date.

My case info:
I485 filing: August 4, 2017
Case transferred to NBC: November 27, 2017
Interview Notice: February 15, 2018
Interview Date: March 22, 2018
Approval notice: Waiting

Not sure about that. I have friends whose files were transferred to NBC at least a month before mine was transferred although my application was filed ahead of theirs. Until now they do not have an interview schedule. With USCIS it is not really 'first come, first served'. I have friends who filed their applications later than I did but they already had their greencards.

The posted processing time is pretty much useless. I have two friends who filed their I485 at a later date than I did in August. One had the interview in December and now has a green card. The other has interview scheduled on January 18. I am still waiting for my interview notice. With USCIS, it is not really 'first in, first out'.

It comes from NBC but they coordinate the schedule with the local office. Then, NBC will ship your documents to your local office.

I think that is the normal procedure now. My friends cases got move twice too but theirs have a a gap of about one week between transfers. Today, I received the transfer notice for the November 27 transfer. I am not sure if I will be getting a notice for the November 28 transfer. I was thinking that it could be that the second transfer update was just a duplicate of the November 27 update.
