Topic: H1b AC21 Cancellation: Trump's Nuclear option

Very True...he may well be right on this analysis since he’s based his whole career on the EB backlog...
But you guys have to agree that he is a huge embarrassment in the way he interacts with congressmen and govt officials...
He opens his mouth and no one cares about what he has to say...definately needs to learn some soft skills..

Not fair we’ve to start all over.

The most plausible way would be if H1b extensions are scrutinized and a competitive points system is implemented at the same time.
Imagine, now you have a chance to apply for a greencard but if you were cheating for the last 10 years, you will likely not make the cut through the points system and your extension will eventually be denied..
And yes it’s fair as you didn’t work for free and weren’t forced to do so

Points System will also be bad for people waiting for 10 plus years.

If the Points System is bad for someone, they should definately leave. I don’t think this administration is about to give handouts...or entertain any flower campaign

Guys relax...
There is a good chance that HR 392 will die forever and a points system will get implemented.
Immigration Voice has survived due to HR 392 and backlogs, and has formed a stake in maintaining the status quo.
This rogue organization is now losing its influence as they haven’t delivered anything in the past 12 years and the current administration won’t give these guys a minute of their time..
Aman Kapoor said in October that HR392 will move in December..NOTHING HAPPENED!
This is a final attempt at gaining some credibility and $$ by spreading fear...
Be careful, prepare for the worst but take the words of these IV guys with a pinch of salt!

Topic: H1b extension with approve 140 while 140 NIW is pending

Hi guys.. I have a quick question
My friend has an approved 140 from his employer and filed for another 140-NIW a few months ago.
He needs to extend his H1b while the NIW is pending.
Can he use his approved 140 to file the extension and then later transfer the visa to his NIW after it is approved?

Will greatly appreciate your insights..

Topic: H1b stamping when 140 is pending

Hi friends:
My wife is a physician who has 140 approved through her employer. Last year we got an h1b extension off of that 140.
We have now applied for a 140-NIW for her and it is pending. We will be traveling to India for stamping in mid-Jan. Would the pending 140 cause any issues at all?

IS IT IRONIC that Kevin Yoder assumed first sponsorship of this bill on date 7/11? Prejudice...

Topic: Will HR 170 affect you?

An article says that nearly 2/3 rd of all H1bs make $90,000 or lower.
I’m curious to see if any one on this forum will be affected by HR 170.
Also do these same guys have approved 140’s?
Look forward to some comments.

I work in investment research and make around 300K base + bonus so HR 170 won’t affect me.

Topic: Immigration reform bill next year

Dave Brat’s legislation doesn’t include merit based but includes Chain migration curbs, everify and diversity visa as exchange for Dream Act. On top of that we have HR 170 to curb H1B. If republicans don’t as for merit based hopefully the dems will push for HR 392 with Dream but that’s unlikely. My only fear is that we might get left out of the package. #Urgency

LOL, there’s a very good chance HR 392 will make its way with the Dream Act.
HR 392 is more of a democratic bill and republicans don’t seem to mind it ( I think they would want to remove any family based provision). Raise is a GOP capitalist bill and democrats seem OK with it, what might end up happening is something in the middle. We just want to make sure we don’t get left out..
Im OK with either as long as something happens, I have a Masters, CFA, am Vice President at a bank, and make over
$350K + bonus. So no problem with Raise.

Any bill with a 2/3rd majority in the house (290 votes) can't be vetoed by the president so all HR 392 needs after passing the house will be to pass the senate....

Big media is to blame coz they give all attention to the most powerful and to the miserable and we're stuck in oblivion

I don't know man...wish we could quietly get this done but will unfortunately become the collateral damage here.
We're not the most powerful and we're not the most miserable like these DACA clowns.

This bill will not make it to the floor unless provision for family-based immigrants is removed.
The goal is to cut chain migration, not to alter it...
