Topic: H.R. 392, Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act

The link https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/sen...

My deduction: Its has "Latest Action: Senate - 02/02/2017 Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. (All Actions)"; is introduce by senator (and URL says Senate-bill) so it is Senate bill :). I may be wrong here, I need to do due diligence.. or just wait till someone explains what is difference and corrects me..

While its neither news nor we know "what changes", we have 292 cosponsors officially.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/hou...

I also came across http://7monthsvs70years.siia.us/ which has some UI and presentability and cases.

Lets see if we can help, quick lookup on
https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/hou...
and
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/NJ

gave the list of 3 reps in NJ who are not co-sponsored yet. Not sure if they know about the bill.. can we send mail and target to get then in co-sponsor* list by end of this month?

They are from NJ1 (D), NJ3 (R), NJ11(R)

I assume we have enough people waiting in NJ/NY area so it should be quick. The email and phone numbers are on link..

*even if that may mean nothing for getting on floor (its counted as baby steps, Bunnu style)

meanwhile, we have ~13 new co-responses to take total to 213. Nearly half of the house is co-sponsoring it. Are these people just sign it for sake of it?

Not really... a while back something like this passed house.
https://www.congress.gov/bill/112th-congress/hou...

Folks who are here for long time can attest and compare the language. Someone else can reintroduce it 2018 but a quick search shows this year we have highest number of co-responses in 3/4 months

@dubnis: it was not targeted at you, this is just something I write for trolls, and to keep me honest.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz [R-UT-3] who sponsored/introduced HR 392 (and HR 213 etc) has announced that we will not be seeking the reelection in 2018. Hopefully he move this further than last few times..

Topic: I-140 EAD approved by OMB

There was another piece today @ 8.55 AM EST (APM Market place radio WNYC). Today the reporter asked some business people how they are struggling with H1B lottery and how the spokesperson for USCIS (?) does not know full rules and regulations (the person said you have to leave country in 10 days if visa denied reported corrected it to be 60 days)

The business man who she talked to mentioned that he is thinking of opening offices in other countries (Japan and Canada) as resources can not come to US (due to lottery) and how big companies are able to apply lot of people where small firms can not (due to fees which has to pay upfront). Another point was how its not possible for "coal miners" to get the job in IT industry (segment was more focus on IT industry).

I just wanted to keep this here (if anyone collecting data points) ...

Today at around 9 AM (EST) there was a story covered in APM (american public media) Martketplace about the backlog of H1-B visa, I dont remember reporters name (shelby/shelly ?) who interviewed couple (from Texas) who is waiting for 14 yrs . The reporter said she tried to contact multiple people but no one would give interview on the record.

The couple (I think last name was agarwal) had good points, it was about 5 mins story/news.

:)

We need numbers and facts as well, we can discuss a lot but the video/document/banner should have numbers and facts. I think someone in past pages posted # of people waiting, tax paid by them and years spent.
We also need to collect factual stories/cases about people waiting for long time at one place as communication/presentation.

my 2p

path2gc + 1

15th Aug is coming up and many cities will host some kind of gathering/parade.. we can take this opportunity to expand the issue and understanding..

Should we create another thread to list out the ideas/ banners/ videos and communication material .. and keep this thread for discussion.

The Sam's hair loss story
I think it was 2001, Sam was 20 yrs old then, he saw his uncle was going bald. Uncle was very proud of hair and worked to maintain it. Uncle saw Sam looking at his hair and said you have to take care of your hair son, you are going to lose it one day and you are not going to like it as well. Now, Sam was smart guy, Highly-skilled and smart, he looked around, and thought there are more than half of worlds population (200K or 300K people ?) going bald. We are in different world than uncle's, the technology is changing, every month new discoveries are unveiled. I still have 20+ yrs before I start loosing hair. Some one is going see this problem, focus on it and come up with solution; there is no compelling reason to look or ask for such thing for me. By the time I am 35 the medicine should be easily available, over the counter perhaps.

Now, in 2016, Sam is losing his hair, he sees whats imminent, thinks he should have listen to his uncle, added some posts, taken some care, asked few doctors and not rely on someone finding solution because it is obvious problem.

Poor Sam, he is bald, he is waiting someone notices issue, provides solution, someone makes it generic and he can go any buy over the counter, he got car so he can drive to pharmacy.

logicaldesi is sath1982 just changed name, i dont understand why this trolls come to the forum and post total off topic post, i wish they use their high-skills to read the topic of forum and post accordingly.
It doesn't require much skill to create forum to discuss benefits and drawbacks of IT company and less skill to read the topic of forum and relate to what we write is related or not.

Can High-skill FTE workers working on cutting edge technology think once?

I don't agree with all points ArunKumarG trying to put forward, but i agree in general. You have to step into mud to clean it. Until then, remember, we live in plural society (shout out to Aron S).

I was just going over last few pages, I wonder what high skill job which pays 100K+ allows you free time to add 15/20+ comments a day on trackitt (and nothing on weekend).

I always wondered how nasty we can get and how fast and can step on each other .. my 2p

Ah, I was thinking more like some kind of filter/criteria for the approvals like and again this is only example ..
Applications filed in certain period or with specific designation/role or technology.. time/ address...
but this is just an example of the criteria.. have I mentioned it before? :) ;)

I dont think you/anyone here thinks he booked meeting room from outlook himself and sat sorting/filtering did spell checks before sending by himself i wonder... ;)
nways, as i said was curious why some of them did get the message and some did not.. not that it matters now..
