Topic: September 2017 transfer from TSC to NBC

Hello everyone,

I had my interview today in Norfolk. The interview lasted 20 min. The IO asked me to take the oath. Then verified my name, address, first name of my parents, where I was born and date of birth. She took a picture and fingerprints for two fingers. Then she asked for employment letter and 3 last pay stubs. She asked me when was the first time I entered to the USA so I told her the first time and the following times I entered the US until I got the J1 visa and stayed to work in the US. She asked me all the visas type I had and with what I am working now (B1/B2, J1, H1B and EAD) and the last time I entered the US. She asked the yes/no questions of I-485 form. My parents change my given names when I was 12 years old (they removed 2 of the 3 given names at birth and added a new given name). She asked me about that, I explained her they wanted to give me a name which has a meaning in my dialect.

She asked me if I studied in the US. I replied No I did not study in the US, I left my country after high school and then studied in France where I got bachelor, Master and PhD. I came after my PhD to the US for a postdoctorate position. She asked if my job is stable and a permanent position, I said Yes I am working for a non profit organization which receive funding from grants and we are safe. I was offered a 3 years position at first and now I am employed as staff and all is well. She also asked me f I have a lawyer. I replied I self-petitioned for the I-485 form. For the I-140 NIW, I used a lawyer but I wanted to apply myself for the adjustment of status.

She told me that all look fine, she wants to review more and if she needs something/additional documents she may call me or send me a letter. I asked her if she needs more documents as my new W2. She said she should be fine with the recent employment letter and pay stubs. She asked if my medicals exams were still valid. I replied yes until May 2018. She replied “ok so we have to give you your green card before May 2018 then”. I asked how long I should wait to get an answer from ISCIS. She said “I should hear from them in 10 days. It depends if a new regulation comes in the meantime. The green card is for 10 years and after 5 years I can ask for citizenship and get it if I am in good standing.”
She hold me a document saying “Your application/petition has been recommended for approval. AT this time, it appears that you have established your eligibility for the immigration benefit for which you applied. If final approval is granted, you will receive your approval notice by mail.
And below the box “Your case is being held for review….” is checked.

To Shabgard66 and rsmj:

Hi all,

I never got a response from my service request. I called last Friday Dec 29th and I was told that I need to wait 30 days before raising another service request for missing notice. I said that I do not want necessarily to submit a service request, I want to know where is my application: NBC, Vermont...? The officer on the phone said that she doesn't know and it seems that they did not address my request yet. I guess I will never receive the notice for the transfer on Nov 8th. It was a glitch in the system.

I received today in the mail my interview notice dated from Dec 28th and mailed on Dec 29th. I have my interview scheduled on Feb 1st in Norfolk, VA.

Sure! Actually it is a request for a missing notice. Online this is what I can read "As of December 8, 2017, your inquiry about a notice that you did not receive, referral number T1BXXXXXXTSC, is currently not assigned for processing."

Hi everyone,

EB2 NIW, I-485 RD 5/25/17
PD 12/05/16

Just to share my experience.

I received text message/emails and saw an update online that on Nov 7th, my I-485 form was transferred to another office for processing. I received the physical notice per mail on Nov 13th, transfer to NBC to speed up processing.
On Nov 8th, I received again emails and texts messages+ online updates that my case is transferred to another USCIS office and that office has jurisdiction over my case. No physical notice received yet. Called USCIS a couple of weeks ago and automated system said my case is in Vermont.
I called USCIS yesterday and spoke with an officer as it’s been 30 days I did not receive the notice. She suggested submitting a request and said it may be a duplicate as I received two notifications for the same application two successive days. I asked how can it be a duplicate when it said that my case is in two different locations? She said let’s submit a service request to find what is going on, what we did over the phone and she gave me a receipt number.

Hi, I got the same message than you yesterday. And today again, I got another message. I am waiting to receive in the mail the notices.
On November 7, 2017, we transferred your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRC179050xxxx, to another office for processing and sent you a transfer notice. The notice explains why we transferred your case.

On November 8, 2017, we transferred your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRC179050xxxx, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case.

Topic: May 2017 EAD filers (I-485 based only)

Hi,

Wanted to share my experience...

I applied for I-485/EAD/AP on May 24th 2017 (Texas center) on my own. I used Victoria Chen services for my I-140 EB2 NIW, which was approved end of April 2017.
Reception date : 5/25. Email and text messages for receipt notice on May 31st. Physical receipts notices sent on May 30th.
Fingerprints on June 21st.

I raised a Service request online on 9/24/17. Response on 9/27/17: "Your case is currently with an adjudicating officer. We will make every effort to issue a decision or notice of further action on your case as soon as possible."
Text message and email received on 10/16/17: "On October 16, 2017, we ordered your new card for EAD receipt #"
Text message and email received on 10/19/17: " On October 19, 2017, we mailed your new card for EAD receipt #"
The same information was available when I checked online for my EAD receipt number. However the AP was not updated online.
I received by mail the approval notice for EAD/AP on 10/20/17 and the EAD/AP combo card on 10/21/17.

I could track the EAD/AP package as I have an account with usps and they send me text messages when a package is sent to my address. I got a message on 10/20/17 with a tracking number, so I went online in my usps account and I could see that it was coming from USCIS. It was sent in priority mail.
