Topic: Goodlatte bill coming today - Any details ?

Apparently Dems are already derailing it. They want that additional 50K of GCs to be given to TPS...what kind of creatures these guys are. Congress seems to be far better than these folks back in India.

If you are watching CNN that is what your feeling would be, watch non-liberal channels. Goodlatte heads the judiciary committee for a reason, and he is Trumps trusted aide. This bill is throughly discussed in WH with Democrats and Republicans together and for sure to happen.

It purely depends, if the DACA folks in Skilled Category and can apply in EB2/3 category dates may not move at all as their numbers are higher. Also if the current flow of EB1 category for India stays as is then also you won't see a change in dates, too early to comment on anything.

But most of the DACA may not fall in Skilled category and hence they kept this rule. Most of the DACA folks do blue collar jobs and getting the sponsorship for them may be difficult. This is another way they are trying to send them out. Since 800,000 is a big number and they get additional 3 years to get into any of the categories, it is difficult to make a prediction.

On a funny note our desi community may rant if the number of EB2/3 applications go up from these folks, keep watching.

Topic: H.R. 392, Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act

I see so much of ranting here from our most rational desi community on Goodlatte Bill. What is that they should have done, just clear all the GC queue. Use some sense guys, you won't get everything that you want from your parents, wife and even kids. I have been following Mr. Goodlatte for over 5 years, he is a very rational man and a great soul with all respect to the educated folks, and most of all a patriot by nature.

Given the circumstances where Dems want DACA and President being adamant on Border Wall, what best could have been achieved. Keep in mind that they cannot disappoint corporations that pay taxes, and they cannot disappoint vote bank either. The current solution is a mid path that does not affect anyone.

Coming to increase in number of EB GC, the current 140K itself are not completely filled by ROW and there have been spillovers to India EB. But as you all know most of the EBs are consumed by EB1C from these WITCH companies, if that continues, EB2/3 India will never move. But look at the beauty here and use brains, with elimination of lottery salary takes the precedence. Number of WITCH applications will go down. With these two steps, available count should significantly go up for EB2/3 India/China.

You can't get the whole earth in a single day, please be reasonable and appreciate the bill. I am for it, initially I hated Trump, but I believe he is doing the best for Indians than Democrats.

Topic: SUE IV

One thing for sure is that IV has been successful in dividing Indian immigrant community. I have neither of the opinion on the IV, but was appreciative of their efforts (if at all they are true) to bring support to H.R. 392.

But what surprises me is that in all their calls they repeatedly say that because of them H4 EAD got delayed. Now they are talking about H1 extension scenario. I will give the credibility and benefit of doubt on H4 EAD, but I highly doubt this turn in H1 is because of their effort. Any good news they attribute to themselves, sometimes the language they use is so funny and feels so childish.

Folks do not fight over it, if you believe donate if you don't believe stay calm. Believers don't have to get emotional over it, as you are a non-profit. Non-believers don't have to get mad over believers, let them do their efforts.

PS: I am not a member of IV nor I have donated any money to their. I fall into the Cat on the Wall category in all honesty, I will start paying once I believe that they are really benefitting immigrant community, and will not pay if I am not convinced. But don't want to bad mouth anyone. I think all the rant is from those who believed blindly and paid good money and not getting anything back.

Topic: Future of H1B reform & HR392

I am not saying and never said that other professions are not important than IT, don't try to bring a point that is not in for the discussion. Remember that America is a capitalistic country, the H1s and companies go where there is money. The research you and other post-docs doing might be definitely important, and I am very appreciative of your efforts. When you talk about money with skills, yes weather you agree or not agree they are directly proportionate to each other. As long as you can prove, and you have the capability you will get paid more regardless of the field.

To go by your argument then H1s should be divided based on profession like IT workers to get only 20%, Chemists 20%, postdocs 20% etc. See the advantage that postdocs have, you guys can apply GC in EB1, which other H1s lack. Now you want the benefit in both the places :). Is it a justice?

If you are a postdoc and making less than 100K which is far less than an entry level IT person in Silicon Valley how does it become Highly Skilled work?

1. A Definite YES - Reasons - a) Purpose of the H1 is defeated as salary was not increased for more than 25 years, the so called high skilled become the synonymous for low cost workers. b) Increase of salary does not affect American companies as they pay so much even for freshers, not like Indian companies which pay 65K for a High-Skilled worker - what a joke. c) Increase in salary will keep the purpose of H1 for its true intent

2. Partially YES - Those inexperienced, and low wage people will continue to face the wrath, but I don't believe those who have genuine experience and exposure will have any issues.

3. May not be - There was H.R. 213 in 114th Congress and it took a different shape in 115th Congress, possible that it will take a different name again. But I believe as a part of the immigration reforms coming in next 3 months they may change it to something similar to this.

I don't know you but I duly support your argument, I am from India, but for sure Indians have double standards. When I first moved to Bangalore all the bakeries were owned by Kannadigas, now any bakery is a Malayali bakery. Kannada people hardly protested, same with Hyderabad, now it is full of North Indians, but Hyderabad people hardly protested. But we see a lot of lash by some North Indians on South Indians, and vice versa.

Guys we just don't deserve the right to call Americans as racist, in true sense they weren't as racist before, they welcomed everyone, why would they turn racist? Just because it is hurting their bread and butter. Look at the treatment South Indians get in deep Delhi, and other North Indian states. Look at the treatment North East State people get in rest of the India.

If you want to be here, follow law of the land even if it discriminatory. It is your choice, not their choice to stay here. We can't talk this shit in any of the states in middle east.

I totally agree with you. Few of H4s are working on a very low paying jobs, as long as it is dire conditions that are forcing them to take-up those jobs then I personally don't believe that it makes sense to take-up those jobs. If we are opposing in India as per your video, US people have every right to protest and go against our guys taking away small jobs from these Americans.

Looks like you have pre determined hatred for Hyderabad and telugu people and not sure why though may be because their numbers out weigh others in US. But remember there are more Gujarati's here than Telugu people, there are a lot of Tamil people in Singapore than any other state, there are lot of Keralities in Middle East than any other state. There are a lot of Bengali's and UP people in some African countries. As long as you keep pointing fingers at others, our country will not get benefitted.

I am on H1b too, but when you come here as a "Temporary" person and aspiring to become a Citizen, you should follow the legal processes. No one stops these 250K+ people to become citizens through legal means. It may be H1 or any other visa as long as they take this legal route, administration will not stop them, and can they stop at all?

I know few South Americans who came here through employment and became citizens.

A temporary shelter does not guarantee them a permanent place, they could have used any means to become citizens for the past 17 years as their visas were Temporary. Like we H1s trying to become citizens through the route available to us.

Do you even understand why this rule is being implemented? I am from India too, but I support this law.

Imagine a situation that your neighbors house is destroyed due to earth quake or some other natural calamity. As a good will you ask him and his family to stay in your home until they find a shelter. Can they stay in your home for ever and for good? Do you accept it?

Same thing with these El Salvadorins and Haitians, should the country continue to accept such requests, when these guys are taking the food of the country men of US. Are we tolerating Rohigya's from Bangladesh back in India. Understand the reasoning dude, and then make a comment.

US provided them the shelter, when their homes were ruined in 2001 due to a natural disaster, and these people continued to stay for 17 years !!!. Do you want the government to endorse it?

Topic: nothing wrong move by trump to stop ac21

There is nothing wrong in what OP said here, also nothing wrong in people venting frustration either. Someone has posted a vide of a native american shouting all are illegal. If we go back in times, until mid 19th century world was borderless, and it was more of a jungle law, strong (physically / mentally) attacked the weak with something or the other and won over the others and started ruling them. Post WWII, most of the borders became clear and each ethnicity established rules as per their wishes and interest of their people. It is as good as trying to protect your home, you get to choose what kind of protection you want to have for your home.

If someone has been waiting outside your home when you promise them to let them inside and you change your mind, its natural that the person who has been waiting will go nuts. Same is our situation, all those cursing Trump should understand that backhoe we are no different than him. We all know how tough life is for a UP/Bihar guy in Maharashtra, and for most of Hindi speaking people in Tamilnadu, and can't speak of lash that North Eastern people face everywhere. We loose the moral right to talk about a person who wants to protect his country people.

I want to quote an incident from a guy who participated actively in independence day parade of India at times square NY and even donated the money, I appreciate his patriotism. At the same time he is the same guy who went and broke an office in Bangalore, where this American company was celebrating their independence day within the closed walls. This company was distributing sweets and partying inside the office. Do you support this double standard? I support Modi, and so is Trump. I am also in GC queue with kids who are about to enter college, I know it impacts me big time, but I don't want to do a double talk.

Topic: H1B regulation approved in House.. Time to pack our bags

We should not let employers to exploit us sir. Given a chance everyone exploits everyone, I really appreciate your thinking for others. But this rule will stop that exploitation by forcing employer to pay more or employee to look at alternatives. Either way employee is the beneficiary, which helps the families, than shareholders.

Topic: H1B regulation approved in House.. Time to pack our bags

I mentioned this before, and I will mention it again.

1. If you are so valuable to the company they will increase your salary and you will be benefitted as an individual, rather than living the life of a dog for $60K to $80K per annum.

2. Since you lived in this country for more than 10 to 15 years, you should have upgraded your skills and moved to higher pay. If you didn't this is truly your problem, but time is not yet over. You can upgrade your skills, and jump onto a higher paying job. Who is benefitting, its YOU again.

3. Indian IT companies bought cheap labor in the pretext of skilled people here. If any person is skilled and of extraordinary ability do you get paid only $60K to $80K per year? Are you kidding? Janitors and mechanics make much more salary than this.

In addition to above with that H1 bound with your Indian consulting firm, you work like 16 Hours a day, no holidays, no vacation no fun with family.

I won't deny that it will impact few people, but it will help all those who work/worked hard and made their lives. I was in the same boat as you, but I switched my area of working and kept on updating my skills. My salary is close to 3 folds than what I got in 2012. I am not trying to boast myself, I am still considered as beginner in the area of work I do, and people I know get paid almost 50% more than what I get paid. Don't curse the system when it is trying to clean, curse the company you work for, and curse yourself for not upgrading your skills.
