Topic: Atlanta Field Office Interview

What else were you asked, other than the yes/no questions on I-485? You will likely get approval in the next few weeks, maybe even tonight

Topic: Medical exam expiration for I485 interview

The medical exam is valid for 1 year from the date you submit it to USCIS. So if you submitted it initially with your I-485 and that will be 1 year and 1 day, or more, on the day you have your interview, you'll need a new medical. If your medical was done later, it should still be valid. And I think they're pretty strict about the 1 year cutoff.

Anyone interview at the LA office in the last 1-2 weeks? If so, how did it go and what questions were you asked?

I'm a concurrent filer too and shouldn't need the supplement J either, but my interview is Tuesday and we shall see what they ask for. I pestered the lawyer to prepare the supplement J just in case.

I'm also a concurrent I-140/I-485 filer, and I decided to have the Supplement J completed and to have it ready in case I'm asked for it at my interview next week. I won't volunteer it unless asked. We will see if I'm actually asked for it, hopefully not. It sounds like USCIS has been inconsistent in this regard.

It's valid for 1 year from date of SUBMISSION, note date of doctor's signature. You should be fine

Topic: I - 485 interview San Bernardino field office

Has anyone had an employment-based 485 interview at the San Bernardino Field Office recently? I don't see anyone on here posting about it and I have my interview soon, just curious if anyone can post how their interview went.

I'm also curious if you got asked at the naturalization interview about how long you stayed with your green-card sponsoring employer after you got your green card

Topic: Starting business 9 months after GC

I'm not aware of anyone who's been denied citizenship because they left their employer after working less than 6 months for employer after green card approval. Rajiv Khana says that it is much harder for the government to take away your green card if you apply for citizenship AFTER you've had the green card for 5 years and 1 day, as opposed to the 4 years and 9 months (They allow you to apply 3 months early for citizenship since it used to only take 3 months to process the N400 so you could get citizenship right at the 5 year mark... too bad that's no longer the case!)

So if you're worried just apply for citizenship after you've had your green card for 5 years.

Topic: Starting business 9 months after GC

This is a grey area, as there is no specific time period required to stay at the green-card sponsoring employer. Most lawyers say you should be good if you stay with employer for 6 months after green card is approved. The longer the better, the shorter the more risk. You should be fine since you've been with them for 8 months.

Has anyone had their employment-based interview at the San Bernardino field office in the last few months? If so, what was it like? How quickly after your interview did you get the approval message?

I'll post my experience after my interview later this month.

Topic: traveling with AP after I-485 interview

I had this exact question, and I asked my lawyer, "what happens if my green card is approved while I'm abroad?" He says there is not problem entering on Advance Parole, just don't enter on H1-B (or any other) non-immigrant visa. You should be free to travel if you have AP

Can you tell us what questions they asked of you and what documents you needed to give?
