Topic: Wrong PD on the approval notice

yes, USCIS fixed the PD and issued an amended I-140 approval notice.

If USCIS printed an incorrect date then they need to fix it.

Topic: Wrong PD on the approval notice

I am not sure if you really need to file an amended I-140.

My PD on the I-140 was not printed with the re-captured date for which my lawyer filed a Service Request. The SR can go for a supervisor review which might take upto 60 days for USCIS to respond.

Interview Experience: San Antonio

My interview experience was much inline with other folk's experiences which I read on this forum. I took pretty much all my documents till date, which someone would need to hack my identity but was just asked for my Driving License and Passport (current and old).
The officer started by asking me to raise my right hand for the swearing part, going through a couple of the 485 Yes/ No questions, asked about my current work designation and what I would be working on, work location etc. Asked for my marital status, Parent's, Wife's and Kid's names, current address.

My company also arranged for a local attorney to accompany me for the interview, which I felt kind of helped as it seemed they already knew each other and in fact the officer was conversing more with the lawyer than myself :-)

At the end, the officer did not specifically mention if my case was approved and neither did I ask her the same, but she did say that the card takes ~3 weeks to arrive in mail. So I got the message ;-)

Documents Asked:

- Original DL & PP.
- Employment Verification Letter
- The lawyer and myself offerd the 485-J ourselves (even though I am working with same company). The officer mentioned it might not be actually required but she would keep it anyways.
- Latest H1 copy, as it was applied and got approved after 485 filing.

Current Case Status on USCIS website:

I-140 - Case Was Approved And My Decision Was Emailed
I-485 - Interview Is Scheduled
I-765 - Card Was Mailed To Me
I-131 - Case Was Received

Thanks to all for their contributions to this excellent forum which is of immense help to us all.

thanks for the reply.

The approval notice asks to call USCIS after 90 days in case the GC card is not received. Will they entertain my query since is has been only ~ 2 weeks since the interview.

How long does it take to receive the GC.
My interview was on Dec 12, I received the 485 approval letter on Dec 16, but no sight of the GC as yet.

I have already signed up for 'Informed Delivery' at USPS and can see what mails will be arriving each day. Is there a way to see what has been dispatched from the sender and still in transit, if yes then can someone point me to how that is done.

Thanks all for your replies.

Is it beneficial to take along an attorney for the interview ? I see many folks here have gone on their own without an attorney.

Topic: Things that can affect 485

Starting this thread to check on general things that can affect the 485.

I see that one of the required documents is the Tax Returns, what exactly do they check for in the Tax Returns.

Apart from this is there anything else to be concerned of that can possibly affect the 485 process / background check, things such as toll violations etc?

Is it beneficial to take along an attorney for the interview ? I see many folks here have gone on their own without an attorney.

TIA

Topic: H-1B extended for 1 year only - 485 pending

Hi Guys,

Posting this here even though it pertains to H1 but relates to 485 too.

My PD is current, 485 has already been filed and pending at the moment.

My H1 expires early next year and was recently filed for extension, but instead of the 3 years extension based on approved I-140, it got extended for 1 year only.

The lawyer explained it as "the 3-year extension based on approved I-140 petition is subject to the per country limitation. You have to prove that an immigrant visa is not available at the time your H-1B petition is filed. Since your priority date was current at the time of the H-1B filing, you are eligible for one year extensions on your H-1B status. "

Just want to confirm it this is true and actually works the way the lawyer mentioned it as above.

TIA,
Kumar

the notice for interview mentions 'REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL REVIEW'

Does it list the same for all of you. The word 'INITIAL REVIEW' makes me wonder if there would be more interviews :-)

Congratulations!

Do you mind sharing the field office where you have your interview. I am just trying to see if the processing timelines for the field offices mentioned on USCIS website ("Processing Cases As Of Date:") is in line with your application date of 27 Jun 2017

Also, if you can share your experience of the interview, that would be great.

Hello Folks,

Happy Wednesday.

Started this thread to get your inputs on what exactly is included in the background check during the I-485 stage.
I read somewhere that it is mainly a criminal check, but if you have more details, please share your inputs.
