Topic: Houston Field Office Interview (I-485) Only

I just got our cards in the mail today! People said Informed Delivery app will let you know when the card is on the way, but it is not true for my case. I checked the app regularly but could only saw the other mails. Anyway, the card comes with a Welcome letter (literally), so yeah now I get it why people call it “welcome letter”.

I post my timeline below, hope it helps. More details on my profile.

EB2-ROW
RD: 4/7/17
Transfer: 10/18/17
RFE: 11/20/17
RFER: 12/5/17
Interview notice: 2/13/18
Interview day: 3/19/18
Approval online: 3/23/18
Approval letter received: 3/30/18
Card production online: 3/28/18
Card received: 4/2/18

It’s been 2 years since I started this journey (start preparing since March 2016). It’s not long comparing to people not in ROW, but it was way longer than I had expected (comparing to ROW cases). It was a painful waiting game. I seriously hope there is no more hurdles in this i485 process for anyone who is currently waiting/about to apply.

I wish you all best of luck. Hang in there. It’s gonna be your turn soon.

I just receive the approval letter today (still not sure why people call it "welcome letter" because there is no where on this letter that they say "welcome"). It was sent on the same day that I saw my approval on DHS website. Now I am relieved. Not sure about your case but my status on the DHS website changes frequently. From "we are producing your card..." to "we approved your case" to "we mailed your card."

That’s great!!! Congratulations!! I only saw my update on DHS website. I think the email you received and the status update on .gov website is more solid than just the update on DHS... My lawyer said the welcome letter in the mail would be a firm confirmation for the approval, so i am still waiting on that. The card may take awhile to arrive.

Hey guys, I just saw an update on DHS website that my case and my spouse's case are approved. The exact message is "We are producing your card and will mail it to you within 120 days". It shows that the cases were approved yesterday (March 23), but I checked several times today and it only changes status like couple hours ago (March 24).

I am so happy. Now let's wait for the cards to arrive.

My case status on egov.uscis.gov has not changed yet, it is still "interview is scheduled". So thanks a lot for sharing the DHS link to me.

Good luck guys. I will keep updating you guys on the status of my cards.

I think we have the same IO interviewed us. There were only 2 of us and it took 1 hour, so i think 2 hours for your whole family was ok. Yah.. more waiting. He did not tell us when to expect the decision either. HE just said he saw no problem in approving our cases, but his supervisor needs to look at it to decide.

Thank you for sharing. Good luck to you.

Topic: Houston Field Office Interview (I-485) Only

I had my interview yesterday. The procedure is the same as many people had described. Went in, took oaths, went through Y/N questions on i485, verify info like date of birth, name, place of work, etc. I prepared a lot but the interviewer did not ask to see any other documents I brought except for passport, DL, paystubs, EVL.

I went with my attortney. He did not say much during the interview. But his presence might have made me feel more confident. But it’s not necessary to bring your attorney.

At the end, he said my case will be hold for further review, I asked if there is sth wrong, he said no. No problem with my case, but he cannot approve it today because he needs to go through the details with his supervisor.

Needless to say I feel a bit disappointed for not being approved on the spot. But well, the interview went well. Sonow I just have to wait for the decision letter in mail. He does not say when the letter will be arrived either.

More waiting...

I did my medical exam here too. $230. Mine will be expired in March so I guess I will redo it just to be sure about not getting another RFE for medical. Hoping to see someone sharing their interview experience here...

Do you mind sharing the questions being asked for marriage proof?

I just receive an update online that my spouse and I are scheduled for interview on March 19.

In my transfer notice letter to NBC, they did not say anything about the reason for transfer, the information is the same as the online notice.

I am not sure if SR is gonna have any effects on your case processing, but I raised a SR last week, and got my interview notice online yesterday.

Topic: Renew DL while waiting for GC approval

Hi all,

My driver license is expired on March 1st and my EAD is expired on June 25. Do you have any experience about renewing DL while waiting for GC approval? What do I need to bring to DMV to renew my DL? Will they only renew it up to my EAD expiration date?

Waiting since oct 18. Still nothing. Called USCIS and they asked to wait another 30 days. There is pretty much nothing we can do except for waiting...

thank you for the update. They just published the processing time at Houston field office and there is a back log (it said they were processing case with PD Nov 2017, now it's Oct 2017) so I was feeling kinda hopeless since yesterday. I think there is no chance that I will be interviewed in Feb now. Let's hope for March...

Are you planning on taking your attorney with you on the interview day?

Topic: NBC RFER acceptance of missing I-485j

I think i saw a post in “Days since your RFE” or something like that a person said his case got interview notice from Houston local office. It has been 52 days since RFER receipt date and 100 days from “your case has been reieved at local office” for me, nothing has been updated.
