That's bad. Sorry to hear about that. As a precaution, our attorney told us to get a new medical test before the interview ( since it takes 120 days after the interview, medicals might expire by then). We did get it with us to the interview and IO told us that it is not required but still kept it.

Hope you get it soon

You might not get xfered to NBC because only cases filed on or after March 06 are xfered for mandatory interviews. All applications before that may or may not ( skewer towards may not based on historical data) get an interview.

If you do get xfered you and your attorney (assuming you have 1) will receive interview notices in mail and your online status may reflect that. You also can raise a service request to know what is happening with your case.

All the best.

Topic: i-485 birth certificate question

The birth certificate should have your first and last name. You can get a corrected version from the local registrar's office in India or get notarized affidavits from each of your parents, or anybody in blood relation certifying your first name/ last name.

Please be prepared to answer questions as to why you only have a first name.

Topic: Mother's spelling in the I-485 forms

My spouse didn't change her name. We figured it would be more of a hassle to change names after marriage, and all the legal trouble associated it with it. However, for me, I did change my name ( my BC had my informal name and was later changed to my current name when I was 3 years old ) and submitted a notarized affidavit for the same. No questions were asked as such regarding the name change.

Nope. None of that. Previous experience letters, current employment verification letter, pay stubs plus all prior 797, and ead ( current and prior, opt-ead , and i20s (if applicable))

I don't think so. My spouse's mother's name was different on her BC and passport. They usually are more interested in your history. However, it could depend on IO if s/he wants to scrutinize it.

Topic: San Jose field office 485 interview experience

Spouse and I interviewed on 01/03, at SJ field office. Spouse got her approval notice today, yet to receive mine.

The approval notice had the same day as interview date ( I am guessing they approved it on same day)

All the best.

Thanks Masonal, and all the best to you too.
The English translated copy of your Shenasnameh

No, it is not required for EB based cases, in which sponsoring employer is not a relative. Mostly it is used for marriage based applications or certain EB applications where sponsoring employer is a relative. ( not too sure on this though but not required for regular eb cases )

Thanks, man and all the best to you too.
The attorney was taking notes, although he didn't chip in or intervene, however, it is not mandatory to take an attorney and you should be fine as long as you answer everything correctly.

Had my and my spouse's interview taken today at San Jose Field office
I am the dependent applicant and was accompanied by an attorney. Officer asked for original birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport ( current and previous and i-94 latest copy with travel history )
Most questions were regarding length of stay, visa status, last arrival in US ( under what status, provided copy)
Questions on bonafide marriage( how did you meet, when did you meet, when did you get married, lease agreements, pictures, and title )

We did submit a Supp-J with the original application, however, the attorney gave us a new one too, but the officer had our supplement J

We also provided new medicals ( we did submit medicals with the original application, however, since we are almost nearing a year we took new ones just in case it takes more than 30 days to review ).

In the end, she made changes to the 485 form based on corrections ( address, my A-number) and made us sign it and gave us a letter stating held for review for 120 days ( verbally said usually takes 30 days to mail a decision or request for more evidence )

Got my interview done today at San Jose Field Office.
Most of the questions were related to bonafide marriage, history of stay in united states, i-485 yes/no questions.
My spouse, the primary applicant, was asked very little about her employment.
In the end, they gave us a slip saying your case is held for review and a notice will be sent in 30 days. Our attorney accompanied us and said that is the standard response he has seen so far and he didn't seem much concerned.

Yes, and it must be zero deductible and minimum of 30,000 Euros. Zero deductible is an absolute must.
