this is encouraging. Will be interesting to know what they do about that filling date (which hasn't moved forward, since the day it came out)

Topic: Intuit paying $3.50/hr on B1/B2 Visa

that's right. I worked for an Indian company "tinsel" and they had a lot of people coming from India on B1 visa. They got $1000 per month towards food/accomodation etc but their actual salary was deposited in India

I get requirements in email, which clearly mentions in the subject line " Passport Number Mandatory" Client is TCS. I select the email and delete it.

SSN is a big NO. Most of the companies require last 4/5 digits for submission, which is fine. But giving out the entire number is unnecessary and not required.

Also remember, a ton of recruiters are in the market, just so they can get your resume and personal details. These recruiters then copy your resume and post their consultants name on it (after making edits to it). They sell your personal details to companies in India (that's where most of the recruiters call from). Don't be surprised if you start to see emails from SBI and other Indian banks for credit cards, PMP/Java certification training programs etc.

Be mindful of what all you need to share with a recruiter. If they want your personal details prior to the offer, simply say NO

Topic: Job Hunt, when you on H4 EAD

I was earlier on H1 and then circumstances lead me to come on H4-EAD. Most of the folks here are right, companies don't want to hire H4-EAD because of their visa limbo and their actual work experience. You have to be confident with your approach.

When recruiters call me and ask for visa status, i only say EAD. Their first comment is OPT-EAD? I say it's EAD and don't require any work authorization. They are also very strict about LinkedIn profile. I provide them that information with ease.

I have also rejected recruiter's calls and offers when they want detailed information on my visa (copy of visa, EAD card, passport number, I94 copy etc). I politely tell them to give me the offer letter and then I can provide you with all the necessary information.

It's really tough for all of us. You just need to pack a lot of patience and keep looking. Good Luck

Topic: who is right: IV or immigration girl/lawyers

I tend to agree with this. There's a whole lot of hue and cry going on these days. At my present client site, a lot of H1B contractors huddled to discuss this issue. They all started panicking and looked out for plan B.

The rule makers have to do something about the people already waiting in line for decades. Green them and then make your fresh rules.
