I am changing employers and the new company lawyer has shipped the premium processing H1B petition on 5th Jan and it reached USCIS on 8th Jan, it appears that the receipt information has not been received as of 12th Jan, lawyer is saying there is a delay in the premium processing section of the USCIS, is anyone experiencing similar issues now?what could be the problem here? Thank you!

Guys, my petition was initially submitted on sept 2017 last week. I got it converted to premium on 5th Jan, USCIS received it on 8th Jan (status properly updated) and approved on 11th Jan. I learnt it via the case tracker. I had asked my attorney to send me the receipt but they never responded. My petition got approved anyway so I am waiting to get more details from them.

Don't wait for the receipt. As long as status updates are accurate in USCIS you should be good.

thank you for reply, question? how did you confirm that the case got approved? you got the case receipt number from the attorney when you filed in sept? right? believe the case number is same even if you upgrade to premium. in our cases, we dont even have the receipt number.. there is no way for us to check the status... hope i am not missing something..

Ah, my bad. Your I-129 (Non-Immigrant Petition) form and I907 (premium processing) form are independent. As far as I know, receipt is given for I-129 and not for I-907. While there may be a delay in relaying receipt number back, the 15days window kick starts from the day uscis receives your documents. Hope you get the receipt soon for you to track.

Regarding your q - I got the receipt number 2 days after my docs reaching uscis. This receipt number has no bearing on whether premium or no premium. Case number wont change when upgraded to premium.

thank you for info, I was under impression that receipt number is made available via designated email for premium processing (in about 2 days after USCIS receives petition) they check to make sure everything is as per requirements and all mandatory docs/fees are attached and the 15 day clock starts only after the notice of receipt is generated. For regular petitions, the notice of receipt arrives in postal mail in about 2 weeks after USCIS receives the petition. understood about the case numbers, thank you!

I have a query regarding premium processing.

My H1B petition was filled Friday Jan 12th, petition docs sent via Fedex and received at Vermont Center today Jan 16th as per Fedex receipt. I am planning to upgrade my case to premium.

Will I / my employer be able to upgrade the case to premium right away or Will we have to wait for the receipt to reach us (which takes 10-14 days) ?

Please share any relevant info.

It's been more than 10 days since my company filed for H1 transfer in premium and they are reporting that they haven't still received the receipt number.
Anyone else is the same boat, is it normal to take so long to receive the receipt number?

Hi Arjun - Don't worry. I was in the same boat as you, no receipt even after 9 days of filing under PP. If your case is strong, you may actually get approval email directly.

Hi Guys, i believe/guess (not official) there is some issue in the CIS receipt system, my case was transfer filed under premium processing, lawyer didnt receive notice of receipt for 1 week, but rather got direct approval mail for my case. one point to note, for my wife, her H4 notice of receipt came to our home address, but when i check in mycases USCIS portal, the case number is not even recognized, but the lawyers are confirming that her H4 extension is also approved. My H1B case number whatever they shared is showing approved (but 100% confirmation can be done only when I see the notice of approval or the premium processing approval mail that the lawyers get) Based on the above, I am guessing there is some issues in the system. so, agree we can assume if your case is strong, you should be expecting straight approval. just sharing my experience..hope this helps! good luck!

Hi All... there’s another way of checking the receipt number. In case your attorney/employer doesn’t receive the receipt number in email or receipt notice, they can check whether the check has been encashed through their bank. Usually, when USCIS cash the check, it’s mandatory for them to put the new Receipt number of the petitioner and have the scan copy of encashed check uploaded. Only attorneys and employer can access the bank account to see the cleared check.

I got to know about this info from my attorney when there was no email received/receipt notice received from USCIS despite putting the case in Premium processing.

Hope this helps you guys!!!

Anyone else did they get any updates ? I found out the receipt number by your method only , but still the same status online as well as attorney haven't received mail/letter.

Application was received in uscis 1/10
