It does take about 6-12 months in average for EB2-NIW. So it might take even longer than January 2. It is all depends on many things. the officer, the country that you are coming from, the work that you did and you are doing currently, and some other things as well. My was received by USCIS on 17 of July 2017, and was approved on 13 of September 2017, so it took only 57 days, but I know that for some it takes only few weeks to get approved, but for others it takes 6 to 12 months, and it make take even longer, depends on how many RFE you get. I don't understand why NIW approval would depend on the country you are coming from? It has been never ever mentioned anywhere in the "Matter of Dhanasar" or any other instruction provided by USCIS. I believe that the only driver is the assigned officers and the field of research. I have friends with very strong credentials that took them more than 10 months in TSC, while I know others with some moderate credentials who get approved in less than a month from TSC, same country, same university, both PhD students.

I submitted my EB2/NIW in the end of June. Still waiting to hear back. My H1b expires (6 years) in June, 2018. When can apply for H1b extension based on my pending EB2/NIW application? I know the earliest you can apply for H1b extension is 6 months before expiry, but my main question is regarding pending EB2/NIW status. Does it need to be pending for certain period of time before I can apply for H1b extension?

Hi All,
My I140 is filed for an EB2 application today. My employer does not do it in premium processing unless and otherwise it is near to max out date.
It is with Irving TX USCIS field office. How many months do I need to wait for this? I know USCIS website shows some tentative month. but in reality, how it is nowadays?

Online case status for I-140 was changed on Saturday 12.45 am saying that the case was approved on November 21.

My 140 case status changed to approved last night. It was concurrent eb3 received on jan 17. Details on profile. Had first SR raised ard 45 days ago but did not receieve the response. So another SR was raised around 10 days ago. Received generic response 2 days ago on SR. Now waiting on 485.

I did not know that too, but in my research institute that I am working people did tell that. Whether it is true or not, I do not know. Yes, I think too the officer is the only driver here. Thank you. We have the same situation here. Some people who did apply for EB2-NIW are waiting for almost 8 months, but others, got the decision within few weeks. My was approved in 57 days. So I was happy about overall outcome. Thank you.

From the post looks like that now USCIS is also changing to 'Approved' status.
For everyone is it happening whosoever got approved recently?
Also are they changing to 'RFE' even?

My employer got the approval mail on Nov 27th. But the online status was updated this morning (12.45 am) saying that it was approved on Nov 21st and they would mail the approval notice!!!!
I assume USCIS is pretty late to update the case status online.

My case status just changed last night. Receieved email and mobile alerts for it and went to uscis site to verify. I have yet to receive the confirmation in mail. So basically, it was updated accurately and in realtime, unlike jkhan's.

I received below update in the USCIS status today.
"We updated your name for your Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker , Receipt Number SRC17******"
Does anyone know what does this means. thanks.

Any approvals for June 2017 cases?
My case was received by USCIS on June 12th and on August 5th, I received notification that my name was updated. No update after that.
Anyone with similar timeline here?

Filed June 30th, 2017.
Lawyer Raised an SR on November 13, 2017.
