Comprehensive Immigration reform failed due to democrats and partly due to OBAMA. GOP and Republicans were ready for legal immigration reform but Democrats and Obama wanted something for illegal aliens. Not sure why desis like Democrats. Democrats at one point of time were most anti-immigrant party. KKK traces it history to Democratic party. Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Regan were Republicans.

After losing congress/senate majority and many governorships during Obama term, Democrats began working with Latinos as Democrats saw Latino as big vote bank to bring them to power.

Cuban-American always voted GOP and got best immigration deal. Just come to US and get GC and citizenship. It was ended recently by Obama.

LOl, buddy I am from India too, but I have an open mind and can see clearly with my eyes, unlike some folks here.

How many times you had to bribe your way through in USA to get a job done? I am guessing the answer is Nada. zero.

I spent 25 years of my life in India, and from my personal experience, this country is infinitely better in terms of racism/discrimination. anyone who says otherwise should go to rajasthan and drink water from a sacred well, and see how the upper caste makes you walk naked through the neighborhood as punishment :).

or go to andhra and try to get your daughter married without dowry and see if he finds a groom :)

and the list goes on..

Dowry/ Corruption is same as racism/discrimination?
then in India it should be he is lower cast to lets take Bribe. He is lower caste so lets take Dowry ? IS it That way?

The word for Bribe is Lobby here. which is used to make a Policy in certain way to benefit the guy lobbying. Perfect e.g. is H1B minimum wage which is set to 60K in 1980s and which has never been revised and does not have a inflation adjustment at all
Thats a perfect result of lobbying.
and you wait and see what happens in congress about immigration bills in coming months :)

When one news service is quoted by a 100 other news websites it usually leads to, like in this case, fear and hysteria. But its still does not make the rumor a fact. We will have to wait and see. As of now there is nothing on the horizon. If reputable attorneys and immigration experts claim that its is not that easy to revoke AC21 privileges I am personally inclined to believe them.

And our politicians back home probably know less than we do about this.

Probably means nothing. They all are raising the issue because Indian media carried the article. I firmly believe that US immigration is one of the areas where Indian media/officials are naive. Some people including me have posted links and article that explains how the AC21 news is mostly media overreaction but the thread is being completely overridden by fear mongering posts and good info is getting lost.

The longer a rule/law is in place the harder its difficult to revoke and change meaning because the businesses and communities rely on it (AC21 qualifies under 'Reliance Interest). DHS will have hard time explaining why suddenly after 17 years they re-interpreting the law and court very well ask in that case if it means that in last 17 years whatever extension they gave were they even valid. They can still deny extension based on that "may" term and coupled wigh wage level, specialty occupation, 3 year college degree etc but not blanket denials.

I can see that H1b is going to get very stringent as the admin has signaled many times that they only want best and the brightest and they have quiet a few ways of achieving that without mass deportation after 6 years(which also should help them avoid any litigations).

Worst case just have a backup.

Dude, it is more complicated. Parties stays policy and the people in the party keep changing. After the civil war most of the south had been democrats(hence supported kkk), after voting rights by LBJ(a democrat) southerners moved to republican party, hence most of the south is republican.
Democrats used to be mostly union people, they used to oppose low skilled as well as other forms of immigration, Republicans are business friendly(so want more immigration), Obama changed that since he got support of latinos, so now they want illegal immigrants to be legal, they didn't care much for legal. Romney wanted to staple GC to STEM MS/PHD's, republicans wanted high skilled, now that changed with Trump :), now republicans want no immigrants(legal/illegal)
Now only party want any immigrants is democrats..

Everyone is talking in air and ithout any understanding of subject and what process is followed in usa. That is the problem. Everyone wants to tweet first right or wrong is not imp.
So you are saying that Trump or his admin called all India parliament and said that we are doing this? And now they are worried?
In Hind there is a saying "Rai ka pahad banana" that's what every is trying.
And after some time it will be " khoda pahad niklee chuha"

It's just a discussion topic. DHS cannot do it just 2 huge reason 1) ac 21 act of congress was enacted just for this purpose before it there were no 6 + years extension 2) this practise is going on for 17 years. So if this need change than congress need to bring a bill
