You have trashed IV all the time but you also follow them? What a joker.

Who are the "right" guys? You?

Btw, when are they shutting this website down?

to EB24life:

Stop behaving like a sucker to IV. It has been a very long time for you to get out of the slave mentality. Get it into your head first.

You are the only right guy for yourself.

IV is an organization run by citizens who pretends to be friends of Indian immigrants and they only way is the same stuff since last 10 years.

In between they had the "Get your documents ready"

And stop worrying about this site being shut down.

IV is good for collecting donations. They will spread rumors and then they will cash it. They and their bakthas are very arrogant and they don't have any leadership skills. Their telegram app is flooding with new members and donations. Earlier it was 1100 and now it is 1700 after H1B rumors. HR392 will never get passed unless H1B is restricted.

Most of H1B's become "na Ghar ka , na Ghat ka". This is really frustrating.

I have an idea, not sure how far this help.

We sent letters, emailing, and tweeting to Senators and congress men until now.

Why don’t we send email, facebook comments, tweeting to People like mark zuckerberg, Bill Gates or any CEO from reputed top 10 companies.

I see at least mark zuckerberg respond on social issues. why not we try.

Whenever you hear the key words end chain migrations, end diversity lottery and merit based, all that implies only one proposal right now = RAISE ACT. Tom Cotton was one of the senators meeting Trump the other day. RAISE act is great but only if it also includes an EB backlog fix.
We need to push for a backlog fix ASAP. I don't see IV, or any other organisation talking about it. HR392 is a fix for the EB backlog, but pushing it by that name may not work.

Just read the text of HR392 and related bill HR 670 and S281. It practically allots 85% of visas to India and China for the first year, 90% for the second and third year and 25% (for each country) thereafter. If combined with RAISE act, it will become irrelevant since RAISE act completely removes per country limits. I don't see how this reduces the backlog quickly and effectively.

Does it also have language that makes use of unused numbers in the past to clear the backlog? I couldn't find it.

Correct, As long as backlog is considered in RAISE, HR392 won't matter

It is so strange all here are ok with raise act with no country quota but are against he 392.
All of yo are ok with merit based immigration which is raise act.
Can some one tell me what's the difference in employment based and merit based?
1) you will get points for English language. Ok all people currently stuck in employment based are working in USA 10-15 years and have worked for big organizations
2) you will be given points for graduation post graduation phds etc. As of now also h1b visa need graduate degree. Similarly eb2 - needs PG or Bachelor with 5 year exp. Eb1 needs PhD with extraordinary research. So it's in place in current system

3)then age. Employment based does not considered it but most people waiting would have come when there age was 25-30
4) salary both system current and point based is looking for a confirm job. Just it's that the point based give weitages to higher salary

In fact merit based is just giving points based on job offer. People will game it. Also a lot of companies will just open to offer job for few month.
On the other side employment based people have demonstrated that they are employed for 10-15 years

Any reason why everyone is debating the pros and cons of Hr392 as if the bill is about to be made into a law? fact is, it has almost zero chance of passing. Axios just reported that the H1b extension denial is coming in feb. this is much more pressing now. should not we concentrate on what can be done about it instead of spending energy on H4, etc?

Is it? Or did it say that they were likely to place it in the public domain for review and comments in February?

yes, and that is the death nail. you think comments by Indians will change their mind? this rule is specifically designed against the same population who will cry foul in the comments. if you are banking on that, please wake up.

to incore:

RAISE act in its current format is more dangerous than rumors about AC21 changes. if it is enacted then everyone beyond 6 years of h1 have to pack and go outside and apply under RAISE act. it is not increasing any no in EB so millions will be applying for just 55k spots every year (140k/2.5 counting derivatives). so practically not good chance for existing backlog folks. if they dont grandfather backlogged people in RAISE act or allocate more dedicated visas to backlogged we are doomed. unless they divert DV visa or recapture 500k wasted visas or grandfather us we have to self deport after our h1 is expired.
go meet your law makers to solve backlog issue in RAISE or whatever merit based or DACA/border security bill they pass. its now or never moment.

If they can legalize and get a pathway to citizenship for approximately million DACAs, why can't they give GCs to the half million legals waiting in the GC line. I know it's like beating a dead horse, but not fair logic.

Here's what i hope is a reality check :
1. Nobody cares about a bunch of us stuck in EB2/3 queues. HR 392 may sneak in as a part of a larger legislation (ex. DACA), but never as a standalone bill.
2. RAISE or other immigration overhauls will not happen - there is hardly any consensus within the GOP on it, let alone the entire senate. By passing the RAISE act the GOP will be signing away it's prospects with the fastest growing population group in America - the Latinos and others of Hispanic heritage.
3. With only 140,000 visas, it is only logical that many, if not most of the 1 million family based immigrants would try to enter the pool. Additionally, with education being rewarded, what is preventing PhD mills from cropping up worldwide, including India?

They will never include HR 392 in DACA. It even reduces the chances of DACA. Moreover, the administration will be completely against that idea.

The ACT says only accredited foreign institutions will be awarded points (and the list will be restrictive), so that takes care of PhD mills.
