This is just not going to solve the Backlog problem in anyway. Its unnecessary to even talk about it

--Surya Pulugurtha

to gcwaitsunny:

The only solution for backlogs is country-cap removal and that is most likely not going to happen in the next 3 or 4 yrs so in the meantime if we are getting 45% increase from 2800 to 4144 for EB2/EB3 India per year I am happy

This time Republican immigration bill has good chance, March 5 is the date when deportation will start for DACA so Dems need to reach a deal before that (if they want to keep their vote share) and DT want 18 billion for wall so may be some patch work for legal immigration will also pass along with other major focus area's.

Per country is now capped at 9940. Each category EB1/2/3 will receive 18K additional visas which means, all of the 18K are potential spillover to Indians. This SO is on top of the country limit.

Most ikely...Dreamers (misnomer but cleverly coined name) for half assed wall. I would bet the keyboard that I am typing that there is not going to be a damn thing for EB and I am perfectly fine with it. I benefited wildly by coming to this country and anything else on top of it like a GC is a bonus.

How it will benefit Desis, if they don't increase the per country quota?

to h1transformer:

isn't 7% of 190k> 7% of 140k? also most likely bigger SO....

If you are watching CNN that is what your feeling would be, watch non-liberal channels. Goodlatte heads the judiciary committee for a reason, and he is Trumps trusted aide. This bill is throughly discussed in WH with Democrats and Republicans together and for sure to happen.

to JUSLOOKIN:

Original post from JUSLOOKIN:

Reposting Post # 68 from Incore (with corrected worldwide numbers):

Numerical Worldwide Limit for EB New = 195000 let's call it EBWLN (new) and the old limit at EB as EBWLO (140,000)
-----------------------------------------
Worldwide-EB4New=Religious/Ministers=7.1% of EBWLO (Hard capped at 9940 by Goodlatte)
Worldwide-EB5New=9940 by Goodlatte
Worldwide-EB1New=58,374 + Spillover/Unused from EB4New/EB5New (earlier this number was 28.6% or ~40040 +Spillover)
Worldwide-EB2New=58,374 + Spillover/Unused from EB1New (earlier this number was 28.6% or ~40040 +Spillover)
Worldwide-EB3New=58,374 + Spillover/Unused from EB2New (earlier this number was 28.6% or ~40040 +Spillover)

The annual worldwide level for All categories of permanent immigration is 675,000 LPRs
INA establishes per-country levels, or country caps, at 7% of the worldwide level in categories other than EB.

Which means Guaranteed ~18693 more Green cards in each category per Year.to each EB1/2/3 category for India, It will be good unless EB1C eats it all

=========================================================================

If ~ 18K more visas will be available for each category, then for example, EB2 gets ~ 18K more and if other country demands stay where they are, there should be more spillover from that additional 18K allocated from EB2 (ROW) unused visas to baklogged EB2 India? Why would that spill over be contingent on what's happening in EB1 regardless of EB1C demand. Can someone clarify pls.?

to ZenZone:

* EB2-I will get horizontal spillover if EB2-ROW demand stays the same
* EB2-I will get vertical spillover if EB1 demand stays the same

Of course demand will only increase in all categories and EB2 will still stay terribly backlogged for a long time but this is still going to be slightly better than current pace.

If this becomes law, then in Visa Bulletin Oct 2018, EB2 India dates will move to July 2010.

Sorry to bust your bubble and euphoria but NOTE that Immigration bills that have any realistic chance of passing will initiate from the Senate. Bills from the House are just distractions to appeal to the overall media, constituents and sponsors.

There will be no Immigration bill that includes a respite for the backlogged Indian community. The reason - there is not enough traction from the community nor is there any backing from industry.

DACA will happen with a border security and that's about it in this version. Adios!

I think this will not change much for India. Please do not forget that by elimination of the family based immigration categories , siblings of these people will now apply in employment based category.

Thanks. Getting an almost assured horizontal SO of ~ 10K per year is amazing compared to where we are today. This is assuming that vertical SO is zero due to strong EB1 demand. I will happily take this compared to the status quo.

This is part of DACA and there is a better chance for sure than any other bill. Might as well happen!

but they have to qualify for employment based visas .... most of this family migration ppl are low skilled .... or unskilled ppl who just want a free ride ... and end up becoming taxi drivers or other low paying jobs

Yes...with a SO of 10K or so per year (assuming no vertical SO), it is likely that 2010 will be current by 2019-2020. It will easily chop 5-7 years of wait time for such PDs.
