Interview experience:
Hartford, CT
Same as everybody’s else, asked if we had a lawyer, oath, passports, DL, birth certificates, EADs, ssn, general questions regarding type of visas we ever had, proof of bona gode relationship, proof that we never been out of status (all things we already submitted, but gave all originals of J1 ds2019), employment letter, w2 and pay stubs. Then yes/no questions. IO very courteous and professional. Said he was going to review the case in the next days and gave us the notice the case is held for review. He said not to stress about that everything looked in order.
On a side note, the IO made us fill out and sign the form I-134 affidavit of support, while our lawyer repeatedly told us that was not necessary given my category... good thing is that the IO agreed with us that supplement j was not necessary

To John009:-

Thanks John

Below are specific questions

1.what was my role on L1B and specialty
2.what was the name over seas branch of my office
3. When did I join the overseas company branch and for how long did I work there
4. When did I come on L1A
5. How many people I am managing now and how on L1A

So basically these all were very simple questions which I answered promptly without any hesitation so basically the IO officer check that whatever is given in the paper work you can confirm that confidently and promptly though my lawyer told me that the IO officer can not challenge the approved I140 petition

Over all nothing to prepare and worry, Hope this helps

Thanks

We did our 485 interview on January 4th and today my status changed to " Your interview for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRC179XXXX, was completed, and your case must be reviewed. We will mail you a notice if we make a decision or take further action. While for my wife status has changed to "Name was updated". Guys do you have any idea what these status means? RFE, Approval or anything else? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

My Details:
Just to update on my case:
TSC, India
PD: 06/15/17 EB1A
RD for I-485: 10/16/2017
FP: 11/14/17

Case transferred to another office on: 01/02/18, I believe to NBC. Received physical notices yesterday.
Let's see how it does not. Still waiting for EAD/AP... 85 days passed.

Today I saw an online status change: My case was received at local office.
Has anyone received such status update?
What to expect next? guessing Interview.

Just to confirm, does everyone get this status update after transfer to NBC? I understand that it depends on the workload of local office, still how long do you think it may take for an interview notice from the day of case transfer to local office?
Can anyone please comment who has gone through this and share their experience?

Hi Phelps,
My wife's interview was scheduled on 01/16 but the IO was very nice to allow her for the interview today. They just need to check whether her files are in the office or not. Overall the interview experience was very good. It took ~ 20 mins for both of us- IO checked all the employment related docs- EVL, W2, tax return, passport, EADs, pay stubs, SSN, I-20s and marriage related docs for my wife- marriage certificate, marriage pics and other similar docs. No question on my I-140. After that basic I-485 yes/no questions for both of us and thats it...the IO finally mentioned that I should hear about the adjudication in 30 days.
Best of luck buddy !

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am a bit confused about I-134, would you put yourself both as a sponsor and a beneficiary? Did you have to provide any additional evidence for I-134 - tax returns or bank statements?

to blackcougar:

You’re welcome!
I was also confused about the affidavit of support: my lawyer told me so many times I didn’t need one...anyhow the officer was very nice and told us to fill out one before him right there. I also asked some guidance. I am the sponsor and my husband’s the beneficiary.
I filled out my salary and my address, our kid’s names and that’s about it.
As a proof of bona fide marriage I have given him the birth certificates of my kiddos and my bank statement with our names on, and a print out of my life insurance’s beneficiaries.
I guess that there might still be some uncertainty in the guidelines for interviews, and many IOS still treat it as a family based petition.
Hope this helps!

No idea... never called for infopass. In our case was a gentleman (I believe officer Estes) who brought us in his office and was very professional and not at all intimidating

HI Manumol,
Did your online status changed to something like this? "Your interview for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRC179XXXX, was completed, and your case must be reviewed" . I did interview at Houston on Jan 4th (Eb1A) but have not heard anything so far.

Thanks

I never had any update since we received the notice that the case was transferred... so no updates such as interview schedule etc etc. I guess it depends by the service center. It’s a waiting game...

Hey Guys,

Those who are waiting for the interview just hang in there. I have had my interview this morning in Greer, SC. It was very pleasant experience. The officer was extremely friendly and nice. Me and my wife were interviewed together despite of different scheduled times. Also, we were about 40 mins early, yet they took us in and our interview was over in less than 25 mins. Only thing officer asked me from me is explanation of name difference in my father’s first name (name alone Vs. name+kumar). I would suggest anyone with a similar situation, to make a notarized affidavit that both name alone vs. name+kumar etc. is the same. I am glad that I had that. He took that put it in the file and moved onto standard Yes/No questions. He said that there is quite a lot of back log for green card production, however after 1 hr. of interview, I got the update on both me and my wife’s status online “New Card Is Being Produced”. Does that mean I should receive the cards next week? Can anyone with similar status pitch in!

Nirav
