Hello All,
My wife had her 485 interview today. Summarizing our experience today at the DC(Fairfax) Office.

Our interview was set for 10:45 AM. The officer assigned to my wive's case (L Hughes) arrived 5 mins later and called my wife in. I was asked to wait outside. He did not ask for any documents except copy of my green card. He went over the regular yes/no 485 questions. After that he went over some basic information about me with her: like my job, company, marriage. He then asked about her job and parents information. At the end he said that the green card would come in mail in the next 6-8 weeks. Overall there was no major question nor any document requests. The whole interview review took about 30-40 mins.

Best of luck to everyone.

Hi All, I had my 485 interview earlier today at the Washington DC Field Office in Fairfax. My interview was scheduled for 7:45am. The officer called me in at around 7:55am. He was very nice and easy to talk to, and we went over my current address (I moved while 485 was being processed), my parents' name, my current employer, and the regular yes/no 485 questions. He also asked me to describe the nature of my job (asked a few questions about that), and got a copy of my latest I-94, I-797 for the H-1B extension, recent pay-stubs and updated employer support letter. He also asked for the 485(j) supplement which I was glad I brought it with me. I said I discussed this with my lawyer and the 485(j) is not required for 140/485 concurrent application. However, the officer said the DC field office made it a local requirement, so I would definitely recommend to bring it along for the interview.

Overall, nothing out of the ordinary. The whole interview review took about 30-40 mins, and it was a pleasant experience (or as pleasant as it can be). The officer said the approval should come within the next week or so, and I should expect the green card in about a month or two. Hope this helps!

No interview notice yet. I went for infopass on 16th March, and the officer told me my case is ready for interview as of 12th March whereas my online status was "case transferred to another office" at that time. On 23rd march status updated online as well to "As of March 12, 2018 Your Case is ready to be scheduled for an employment based interview. Now no status since 4th April.

I had my interview on Friday (4/20). It was a good experience. My application has been approved and card is in production. Thank you all for the supportive messages and best wishes to those who are in the waiting game! Keep being patient and you will get there soon!

Interview experience:
My interview was at 8:40am in Fairfax (VA) office. If you go there, pass the check-in counter in the 1st floor. It's not for scheduled interviews. You should directly take elevator to the 2nd floor and do check-in there. He will take only the first page of the interview notice and ask you to have a seat and wait. I was there at 8am. An officer called my name at 8:20am. I took oath and then he asked my name, address, employer. Then he went through yes/no questions in the I-485 form. Once questions were done, he took an empty piece of paper and started asking open questions. Where did you study, what degree, when did you come to the US, which city, which school (I came as a student), what did you do after school, when did you get your OPT, when did you get your H1B. He didn't ask for any documents. I asked if I should give him any documents. He asked me what I have. I showed a few. I took employer verification letter and recent pay stubs. Then he said he is fine with the application and he will approve it probably in the same day. I got "Card in Production" status update 1 hour after the interview! It was a good experience. Best luck to all! Feel free to ask any questions you may have
