My opt is pending for more than 90 days. My status says "Case was Received". What should I do? Has creating a case inquiry helped anyone?

These guys are not following any order despite stating on their website that they handle the cases based on the sequence they receive. My case is pending for 82 days now. It reached USCIS on Oct 16th. I know a lot of people who have received the card with USCIS receiving date as Oct 19th-20th. You can certainly try 2 things.

1. Ask your school ISSS to send a mail to them to check the status.
2. Call them and raise a SR asap.

Not sure this would help but yeah, worth a try!

Did you create any SR or case inquiry? Did they take any action?

This is the reply I got on Dec 19. Im sort of relieved as they gave a fixed timeline. And apparently a reply from a service request comes directly from the service centre.

"The status of this service request is:

Recently, you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, to notify us that you believe your case is approaching the committed processing time. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

Your case is currently under review by an officer. You should receive a decision, correspondence or notice of other action within 30 days of the date of this letter.

We hope this information is helpful and appreciate your continued patience."

I called them on 4th Jan. They gave me an SR number. Next day status changed to "the new card is being produced". Not sure if my call triggered the status change, but its worth the try.

Mine is pending for 89 days. I raised an SR after 75 days and my DSO sent a mail after 86 days. I got the same response for both stating "Your case is under review by an officer. You will receive a decision or correspondence within 30 days of this notice". What are the possible next steps as my joining date is 15th Jan?

Just wondering if there are many who are actually getting more than 90 days for their OPT approval? It feels like there's quite a lot of us that's waiting way past 90 days.

I'm on my 96 days now, USCIS received it on 11/17/2017 raised an SR last week on 02/16 and got a reply today 02/20 that my case is currently being reviewed and I'll have an answer in 30 days.

Anyone else too?

Is there anybody whose STEM Extn processing time exceeded 160 days?
My application received date is Sep 15th with POTOMAC and still the status case received.

Hello Friends,

My initial OPT EAD processing-90th day would be April 9th and I have a job offer stating to start from April 16th.
Looking at current delays on OPT EAD processing and today USCIS had also mentioned that inquiries should be made if the processing delay is more than 5 months. I know there are many candidates having a similar issue.

What are my options to get the EAD approved by April 16th? Please your suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Since you are past your 75th day (~82 days, if Apr 9 = 90), presumably you could raise an SR to get an update on the status. If you are on Sevis, I think your ISS can check its status as well.

I am freaking out...I was a little late on applying. They received my application on 1/11/18. It says so on receipt date too. They claim they got it on 16th. So 80 days have passed, 75 if you go by their claims. So far Dec 12 ones are the last applications to be approved.
I already have a job and have to sit a home until I get my EAD. How can ISS help with this?

to aniket01172018:

It appears that status updates on the USCIS site always lag the real time data by at least a week or two. This is based on many comments from others on this board or in the tracker. If you go into the tracker you can see OPT cases received in early January already being approved in the last week or so, so that is good news.

Where ISS can help is the status of your SEVIS or other info they may have access to. For example if you are still on an F1 that is about to expire, but are applying for OPT or an extension, your SEVIS dates would have to be updated. That would typically be done by your ISS. So if the USCIS site is lagging in their online updates, perhaps the approval will trigger a SEVIS update prior to you getting the notification. Either way, it is always worth your while to check with your ISS,even if it is just for guidance on best next steps to take.
